Wendy Signorella is an amazing certified dog trainer and lives here in Ojai. She can help you with the exact things you need while in your home so both you and your dog can learn how to respond to each other in the real life day-to-day interactions. Kudos to you for reaching out before a problem develops! So smart!

We used Evelyn Framant #649-3552. What was great about her training course is she teaches not only commands, but leash etiquette. Also, the class is a group course involving other local owners and their dogs, it is great practice to have control over your dog in a situation where there are distractions.
Dog trainer recommendations please. I am looking for someone that uses more positive reward methods.

If you're interested in trying to train your dog yourself using a clicker I would suggest looking up Zac George on YouTube. He has videos for just about every kind of dog behavior. I haven't tried it myself because I don't have a dog but I do enjoy watching his method of training that doesn't include choke chains or anything like that.:)

Evelyn Frament, in phone book. She runs 6-7 week classes every Saturday 9AM Ojai Community Church on Loma and El Centro. Current class should be wrapping up soon. Which means she's probably starting another in a few more weeks. Her method worked great with my dog. She's got a heavy hand at times, but she also has great insight and sense that made her method easy to get and practice.

Sarzotti Park.... Gina Gables has her Rattlesnake Training there.... Book it through the Rec Center.....for Wendy Signorella

Seaside Scramblers is by far the best dog training you will find. I go straight from work early every Thursday to attend class with my dog. And...you don't have to sign up for a series of classes. It's $15 per class. I don't like the Sunday class as much as the Thursday class. It's at 6:00 pm. My dog loves it too! It's not just obedience - lots of socializing. http://www.seasidescramblers.com/classes/
