Looking for recommendations.. I'm currently looking to switch vet care, less concerned with overall cost; really want a practice that follows up, overall patient...

Teresa M. replied:
All Creatures is twice as costly any other vet around. Someone has to pay for the remodel! Just an idea but nail trims are $38!!!! And it all goes up from there! Soundview Vet in Tacoma is my recommendation!
Aubreanna P. replied:
I also recommend Clover Valley. Dr. Maci Paden is an amazing woman. I use her for my dog who is extremely skittish and have used her for all 3 of my horses. She is always patient, kind, and has gone out of her way to see me on numerous occasions for emergency visits.

Evergreen Veterinary Hospital in Gig Harbor.
Dennis K. replied:
I tried 3 Vets at Evergreen & didn't like any of them. I switched to Belltowne in Belfair to a holistic type Vet named Dr. Amanda Silverberg & really like her & the whole office. They even charge quite a bit less than Evergreen did. I highly recommend you give them try
Donna S. replied:
Clover Valley Veterinary Services are super. Excellent with livestock and older animal care.
Jodi M. replied:
We LOVE all creatures in Gorst. We have been to Kitsap Veterinary Clinic, clover valley vet, woodside vet and cedar creek. In the 18 years of our dogs care, the people at All creatures have handled emergencies and regular care while treating our 4 legged children as their own. As a side note, we will not go back to clover valley, woodside or kitsap vet clinic. Cedar Creek would be our number 2 if All Creatures ever closes its doors.
Rebeckah E. replied:

Around here I don't really know of any vets that are less expensive. But we switched vets this past year and have been very happy with Dr. Kane at Evergreen in Gig Harbor.
Jeri J. replied:
Dr Kirby at the GH Vet (if he is still taking new patients). Our critters have always loved him...
Debbie S. replied:
Purdy Vet above PHS has been good for our pets. Have taken several cats there for various things and gotten good service. If you are looking to have a cat spayed//neutered, I suggest using the Kitsap County Humane Society. They have "fixed" many cats for us, given them vaccinations, checked them for basic problems, and do a wonderful job. Cheaply.

Rocky Bay Equine or Dr. Mark Ness. Dr Ness use to work with Rocky Bay and started his own equine practice last year. He is a great vet too. Dr. Mary Delory (I think is her correct last name) does dental floats and she worked at Rocky Bay a few years too. These are all good equine vets.
Diana G. replied:
Rocky bay, Dr. Ness.
Brenda K. replied:
Dr. Ness is no longer with rocky bay.
Tara B. replied:
Mark Ness!

Daughter recommends Sarah Perkins in Olympia. She said that they sometimes do clinics at area farms to save haul time. Perkins is supposedly very reasonable.
Iso a low cost vet who also would consider payments. I have a 1 year old doggy who my husband swears is getting mange. I disagree, but to save face he needs to be seen....
Wendy Z. replied:
What about that on line pet med discount site? Carolyn D. Schuster
Angala T. replied:
Purdy Vet is pretty good on cost
Wendy Z. replied:
Petmed.com? Maybe, ive seen the commercials
Teresa C. replied:
Value Pet Clinic in Tacoma can take care of both of these issues. Exams are $31 you would need a skin scrape. If you'd like I will look at your dog too. I've seen a whole lot of skin issues in rescue so may have an idea of what's going on.
Michelle O. replied:
I would call Cedar Creek Animal Hospital in Port Orchard...good level of care, and reasonable, but not cheap. There are several type of mites that can give the look and feel of mange. Use a good flea comb and see what is up..some are invisible, but if you use a good flea/mite preventitive they can be dealt with...Revolution for fleas and mites. Use PETMEDS for that as Revolution is very expensive from the vet and they require a vet visit to obtain those flea meds.
Misty S. replied:
Worth the drive to Shelton vet. Love Gary Olsen. Very reasonable. Very thorough
Sarah B. replied:
These days, most clinics will not do "payments", Care Credit is your next best option.

Custer Road Veterinary Clinic in Tacoma is so wonderful. Well worth the drive. Ray Decent is an amazing veterinarian, he had always taken fantastic care of our animals and he's so much cheaper than any other vet I've ever been to. He did a surgery on our dog that other vets quoted $5000 for, for $1100, that included all the aftercare and medication and 4 days of boarding there for pre and post op.
Tanya L. replied:
Purdy Veterinary is hands down the best I've ever been too.
Welcome new member of the family, Buddy straight from the Kitsap Humane Society this after noon very very friendly , just a little stinky, anyone out there knows a Vet...
Needing recommendations for a practical veterinarian. Not happy with the one I've used since it changed owners/doctors. Thanks.
Darren W. replied:
Minter veterinary hospital. In Lake Kathryn Village, Purdy.
Michelle O. replied:
Cedar Creek Animal Hospital in Port Orchard...specifically, Dr. Wempe..
Jeri J. replied:
Dave Kirby and Gig Harbor Vet... We had a retriever that got hit by a car...long story short... after all the treatment. We couldn't keep the dog out of the vets office if we pulled up for shots or an exam. She was out of the car, on the porch, if someone opened the door she was inside and down the back hall. You can't beat that kind of recommendation.
Roger W. replied:
All Creatures Animal Hospital Gorst. They really do treat all creatures with a caring staff.

Worth the drive and bridge toll, Ray Decent at Custer Road Veterinary Clinic in Lakewood is the best vet I've ever had. Took wonderful care of all of my dogs. Very low cost, wonderful staff, and Ray is very practical, caring, gentle with the animals and very honest.
Anybody know of a low cost vet? My brothers dog is sick and he can't afford a big vet bill
Joy B. replied:
I've gone to the Purdy Vet Hospital for years. They are great, and have been great with MANY of our dogs and cats. I don't think they do payments, and that's the only thing that I don't like about them, but that is the way it is with all Vet Hosp. You have to pay for services rendered. There is the Emergency Vet place in Gorst. It's right across the street from my daughters house. But I don't know their policy.
Angela R. replied:
I work in the field, please do not give medication to the dog without knowing what is wrong. You can make things much, much worse (and more expensive). Professional medical care sounds like its needed quickly. Care Credit is something you can apply for online and the they will approve you right away if you qualify. Not a lot of vets are open on Sunday, but I did hear there was a local mobile vet but I am not sure of the name of the practice. There are emergency vet clinics in Poulsbo, and Tacoma, look into those and call for costs.
Angela R. replied:
Harbor Animal Hospital is close and very good. You would need to call them for cost and payment options. Soundview Veterinary Hospital off Pearl Street in Tacoma is also very good. Again, I'm not aware of cost or payment options.
Michelle O. replied:
Has he eaten anything like a toy, or a chew bone, or gotten into some toxic stuff? Try keeping him hydrated at least with water. Feel along his stomach and see if he has any pain in that area as well. The vet at Gorst is 24 hour ER type for emergencies....there is also something called Care Credit which I have used in the past. that lets you make payments.
Does anyone know what vet is open today? I think we might have an Ol boy ready to cross the rainbow bridge today
Tracy K. replied:
Evergreen Animal Hospital or, yes, Clover Valley for in home today
Lori J. replied:
Clover Valley is open today. I'm so sorry.
Phil B. replied:
They also have regular vet care during business houses (next door to the hospital). We took one of our pups there earlier this year when Brookside Vet in Purdy failed us and we have been going to VCA ever since.
Rex N. replied:
Clover Valley has a mobile service and can come to your home. They compassionately euthanized three of mine right at home in familiar surroundings,
