Dr laura wilwerding. Shes a pediatrician and has her own breastfeeding clinic in her office. She is amazing! My 2 year old loves her and she is a huge breastfeeding advocate # 4029917337. Shes amazing and cares for both nursing mother and baby. Many of my friends see her too and im going back as im expecting my second this summer. Shes amazing and listens. Definetly doesnt shuffle you around or ever make you feel like a bad mom and is always there for helpful advice.
Rebecca M. replied:
I have experience with Anne Easterday with La Leche League. She came to my homebirth client's house and was really wonderful. She is a certified lactation consultant, not just a counselor.
Erin W. replied:
Diane Erdmann is a bit "rough around the edges", but knows her stuff. I don't think she does house calls, but maybe you could volunteer to drive your friend...that's what I did for my friend post c/s. I also had c/s and drove myself on the 2 week mark. If friend happens to have Blue Cross insurance, It is covered in full. omahabreastfeeding.com

402-815-1528 is the phone number to the LCs at Methodist Women's Hosptial. They'll talk to you over the phone or you may schedule a time to go see them. They were a lifeline to me when my son was 3 days old and I couldn't get him to eat. They also have a Baby & Me class (more like a support group) on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:00-3:00 and Thursday nights from 6:30-7:30. The class is free and anyone is welcome. If you want to come tonight, the Thursday night class is at the hospital in the Cris room. Walk towards the gift shop, make a right, and its the first door on the right. The Thursday night group is run by mommy-volunteers, but the MW group will have an LC there. Maybe I'll see you there tonight!
Laura K. replied:
Dr. Erin Loucks at Children's Dundee is also an IBCLC. I think she will see moms and babes for lactation issue but might need a referral if you are not already seeing her as a per.
Megan M. replied:
The VNA is awesome. They have certain requirements though. Like military, or one income family or something. Not sure of all the details. Miss Debbie was my hero! She gave me a breast shield, b/c my son has a high pallet and struggled latching. That was the first step in helping both of us. He only used it for about 3 weeks. Then I just pumped a lot, save some milk for a vacation? :) here is the VNA number 402.930.4224

Drea L. replied:
I went in because my newborn and I were having nursing issues. Rather than the harsh triple nipple cream the hospital prescribed, she recommended plant-based oils (coconut or olive), & breast milk on the damaged area. A week later (she also diagnosed and fixed my son's tongue tie the hospital had missed), and we are now nursing pain free & my son gained 10 oz:) His belly button had a bit of cord left behind, but rather than rushing to cauterize, she offered to wait a week to see if it healed on its own. She would rather not intervene unnecessarily, when something can heal on its own.I think that's great! We loved our pediatrician, but after one visit with Dr Wilwerding, we are switching all three of our boys to her:)

Tisha asks: Please post... What breastfeeding support is there in Fremont? Is there a lactation consultant or LLL? Asking for my sister, and my niece born on Friday....
Crystal L. replied:
My friend, Alicia Rhea, works as a Lactation Counselor at Fremont Area Medical Center (FAMC). I'm not sure what hours she's working, but I'm tagging her in this comment. Was the baby born at FAMC?
Alicia R. replied:
Pediatric Partners has a LC on staff, Diane. She is also a NP. WIC has an LC too if you're a client there. All the LD nurses are Breastfeeding Specialists and a handful of us are Lactation Counselors. There is a TON more help than there was 9 years ago when I was struggling and I'm proud to say I am on the team to help breastfeeding moms in Fremont. Just call the hospital and we can get you the help you need and deserve!
Crystal L. replied:
I can't say enough positives about Diane too or Pediatric Partners. My kids have been going there and primarily seeing Diane since we moved to the area, and it has been a great experience. I can't believe I didn't think of this when I wrote my first reply, but I would highly recommend her. Thanks, Alicia Rhea!
