Does he watch tv? I'm reading a book by Dr Jenn Berman called Superbaby and she gives mounds of evidence that children learn violence from tv. Even harmless G-rated movies are guilty. I urge you to look into this.

I'd recommend Nanon Perdaems-Vigen at Envision Counseling. http://www.envisioncounseling.com/counselors. She works really well with children and trauma, and I think this would be a case for her.

My three year old does this to his one year old brother. I have to remind him that to show affection we hug. It seems crazy that he would hit and kick to show affection but for some reason that is how he chooses to show it. Then after the reminder he hugs on him instead. You might read the book The Five Love Languages of Children.

Hugs! We took our daughter to see Dr. Tara Snyder at Boys Town (for something different) but I know that she works with kids with a variety of issues and she really is great with both parents and young children. My daughter was a little older than your when we saw her, aboout 4 years old. 402-498-3358 should be her office number. Hugs!

Michael Miller Just because a child has ADHD or is cognitively delayed doesn't mean they deserve to get spanked or treated harshly. They are children and real people and deserve to get treated with respect and with a form of gentle discipline. Gentle discipline can work with all types of children. Many times it's the parents that need to take a close look at their behavior and to come along side the child and to teach them the right behavior.~Amanda

Aask your pediatrician for a recommendation for someone. We saw a therapist when our almost 8 yo was younger b/c we were having some issues, she was very nice. We are at Children's now and their Behavioral Health dept has all kinds of people. You can call and tell themw hat is going on and they can make an appt w/ someone who would be appropriate. ~Jenn

This isn't exactly what you asked but my cousin just went through a simular situation with her 5 yo son and had him tested and all that and basically came to the conclusion that he is really smart and bored is his class. She also started giving him a magnesium supplement( http://www.calmnatural.com/kids-calm-multi/) And said it has helped. Just thought I would throw that out there.
