Can anyone recommend a good hotel in Ottawa I'm coming to Ottawa for a hockey game in a few weeks (on a Sat). What is the best hotel in Ottawa (in terms of location and...
marmo_tc replied:
There's [the Westin](http://www.starwoodhotels.com/westin/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=1083), which is one of the priciest but nicest hotels. It's in one of the best locations in the heart of downtown, walking distance to most things worth seeing. If you want to splurge, consider this place. Also excellently situated (for downtown) but a bit more budget-friendly is [the Lord Elgin](http://www.lordelginhotel.ca/index.aspx). I've never stayed there, but I've heard a good things about it.
Anonymous replied:
I like Albert at Bay. Clean, modern, right on the bus route, nicely placed, walking distance to Preston, walking distance to market. http://www.albertatbay.com/
ottguy74 replied:
If you're only planning on going to the game, and nothing else, stay in Kanata for proximity. Commuting to the game in Ottawa can be pretty crappy, although Saturdays are generally OK. Leaving the game sucks though, as almost everyone heads east on the 417.
bylka213 replied:
There's tons of good options downtown, just find one that meets your budget. I'd definitely recommend staying in downtown and not in Kanata, you will go out of your mind in Kanata, unless you're OK with staying in your hotel room and lobby.
Anonymous replied:
According to [Zaphods](http://zaphods.ca/?page_id=28) accomodation section you can get their corporate rate of $99+tax at the Quality hotel downtown on Rideau Street. Not sure what the hotel is like though. Expedia reviews might be of use.

ScotiaBank Place (the Sens rink) is in Kanata -- in rush-hour/hockey-traffic it'll take nearly 90 mins to get there from downtown. For best hockey location, I would highly recommend this [Holiday Inn](http://www.hisottawa.ca/ottawa-kanata-hotels/) in Kanata. It's right on the highway for easy access to downtown (30 mins during the day) if you're doing the tourist thing, and you're close to the Sens rink (by car). It's also right next to a shopping centre (movie theatres, restaurants, Future Shop, Best Buy, and so on). Enjoy!

I stayed in the Novotel near Rideau street at the Market Area before I moved here. It's worth it simply because of the location!

Chateau Cartier in Aylmer is great, it's about a 5-10 minute drive from the parliment. It's across the bridge into the province of Quebec but it's a great spot close to everything. Edit: Also there is a huge beer festival the 24-25 and 26 th going on at the hotel. http://www.festibieredhiver.ca/en/
Tiggymartin replied:
I really enjoyed the Indigo if you are into very modern hotels. You can sit on a bench under some trees with a waterfall going on near you as you enjoy how nice the grass is... While it is -40 outside lol you walk into the building and into a park. Then you see another building inside that building and that is the hotel.. CRAZY! Huge rooms http://www.hotelindigo.com/hotels/us/en/ottawa/yowid/hoteldetail/photos-tours It if modern and fun if you are into a nice 4.5/5 star hotel :)
absolutkaos replied:
if you're going to a Sens game and $ is no option then go to Brookstreet. it's as close to a boutique hotel as we have in Ottawa and its got a great view if the city on the higher floors. plus it's in Kanata only a short drive from the SBP.
GreenVoltage replied:
don't do Chateu Laurier, it's only expensive because of it's heritage status and placement downtown. If you're expecting like huge service and amazing free stuff and super comfy god like beds then I have bad news for you: It's pretty much just a normal hotel unless you get an amazingly expensive suite.
JoEHKay replied:
Brookstreet hotel is amazing.
joeboughner replied:
Depends if you're looking to see much of the city or only want to focus on the hockey. The rink's way out in the west end. There's one hotel that's walking distance (Country Inn and Suites) and a few more that would be a reasonable cab ride (Brookstreet which is uber fancy but pricey, a Holiday Inn at Kanata Centrum and a Comfort Inn or something on ... Katimavik maybe?). If you stay downtown though you can catch a 400-series bus to the game pretty easily, so that opens up way more options.
