Best animal shelters in Pittsburgh? Looking to adopt a cat

Pittsburgh CAT or Humane Animal Rescue! HAR was a merge between Animal Rescue League and Humane Society. Good luck!

Got [my beautiful, derpy kitty](https://www.instagram.com/queen_ella_cat/) at [Humane Animal Rescue](https://www.humaneanimalrescue.org/) in Point Breeze. You can also visit the Colony Cafe in the Strip District - it's a cat cafe where you can play with adoptable cats.

I second Animal Rescue League on Hamilton Ave, it's very clean in there and the staff is all very friendly and helpful. They have different ages of cats and kittens depending on when you go since they just take in whatever people bring in. I got my 3 week old kitten there and he had already been neutered and given all of his shots, adopting him was a breeze and he is just delightful.

I'd say to take one out of the worst shelter in Pittsburgh personally. Take a cat that faces being put down, less than ideal conditions, etc., and give them a good home. I love Animal Friends, they're amazing, but they're pretty much an animal resort spa by comparison to some of the conditions other places have due to funding, resource allocation, care, time, etc.

Take your pick, Animal Friends has multiple rooms full of cats.

We adopted our cat from Animal Friends. I also recommend going to the colony Cafe.

HAR! As somebody already mentioned HAR was a merge between Animal Rescue League and Humane Society. I was a volunteer at the old Animal Rescue League and I only have good things to say about it

I adopted my kitten from Nose2Tail rescue! It's a bit further away as it's located in McDonald, but it's a very clean establishment and incredibly friendly. They were super helpful to us as first time cat owners, and she came fully vaccinated, spayed, and microcripped
