Would like to know if anyone knows of a really good dog trainer in Pittsburgh, PA area. Would be nice to hear from someone who has had success with a particular trainer....
Nadia A. replied:
Debby McMullen, http://www.pawsitivereactions.com/. I have not used her to train a dog but I know of her skills as a behaviorist from a case I did in Pittsburgh, and I think if you're a good behaviorist you're bound to be a good trainer! But maybe ask her for references if you need a real first-hand recommendation.

Both apdt.com and iaabc.org have search functions. Both organizations are dog friendly. Both organizations have strenuous requirements for certification. The listings should indicate trainers who make "house calls."
Dog trainers/day Good morning y’all,

Strongly recommend Tena at Success Just Clicks! She's a great trainer, and I've seen her at a ton of seminars, events, etc. South of the city, Keystone Canine and Xcel are excellent facilities, but they are clubs so instructors will vary depending on the course level/schedule. Humane Animal Rescue and Animal Friends have good general manners classes as well. If you're interested in daycare, there is a new program at The Dog Stop in East End that provides a training & enrichment track instead of traditional group play.
I am not sure whether she still does this because her website is down, but I used Lilian Akin many years ago ([https://www.ccpdt.org/dog-owners/certified-dog-trainer-directory/profile/3030518/](https://www.ccpdt.org/dog-owners/certified-dog-trainer-directory/profile/3030518/)). She uses positive reinforcement and has an extremely gentle style. I have also used Dog Gone Walking for both their training and dog-walking. When I used them about two years ago they don't use shock/choke collars not because they are philosophically against it, but because they have not been trained in that methodology. When I used them, they use positive reinforcement only.

I use Sewickley vet clinic on Rt 65. Have been going there for years. Never a problem, with the people. All have treated my dogs well and my dogs do not mind being there. I think its the treats they get. They can be a little pricey on some things, but if I couldn't go there I would go to Avalon. I know a lot of people who go there and so very good things about them. If it is an emergency, I go to the Vet Hospital on Camp Horne Rd, can't remember their name. We had a dog in distress, breathing and they took him immediately, 2 days later we had to let him go. Very hard thing to do, we held him and cried and even the vet and her assistant had tears. So I think they are wonderful even if the outcome of my visit was not good. Sorry so long
