New car dealer recommendations? Sometime in the next few months I'll be looking to get a new car. I'm leaning towards Mazda, but my biggest concern is staying around...

I had a great experience with Bryan at Cochran Mazda in Monroeville. He was super laid back and not at all pushy, and we were able to do all negotiations through email.

I bought from Ralph at Pittsburgh East Nissan in 2008 and I plan to buy from him again this year if everything goes as planned. He did not pressure me *at all* and actually had strong words with a salesman who stepped in while he ran to the restroom during my last trip there before making the purchase when that salesman pressured me. I was very impressed with him and his knowledge of the product he sells. He actually dissuaded me from purchasing a hybrid (at a higher price) once he heard what my driving pattern really is. The dealership treats customers who buy from them and get their service done there *very* well. I pay a little more there for my service than I would at Random Guy's Garage, but I have conveniences like shuttles, a nice waiting room with food and decent WiFi, support via email, apologetic people when stuff goes wrong, and much better liability if something goes majorly wrong. The one hiccup in the process was that I didn't know about the extended warranty until I was signing the paperwork. That added ~$1200 to the cost, raising the payment by about $34/mo. I never had to use the warranty, well, *that* warranty. Replaced the transmission in my '09 Versa under the 10 yr/120k mi powertrain warranty early last year.

Also used Baierl Honda in wexford for my new civic last year. Specifically Mike Sutor (sp?). Easy to work with, and got a good price. Most places are easy enough to work with if you know your stuff. Figure out a good price for the car you want (/r/askcarsales is great here) and come to the dealer with a fair offer. If they're good they'll accept or make a reasonable counter. Remember that you're not trying to fleece them, you're just trying to get a good deal on the car. That means a reasonable payment, and that they still do alright.

Your best bet may be to negotiate solely online after you have test driven and decided on models and features. Often the best deal can come from playing a couple dealers against each other with dispassionate emails rather than trying to strike a deal in a high pressure sales room. The people at /r/AskCarSales can be a bit rough, but they've got lots of info.

Honda North in Butler is excellent. They've been given the President's Award for Customer Services multiple years in a row. www.hondanorth.net

Being that I work for a dealer group (not Mazda) I'd be biased suggesting my own stores, though we do have a strong customer service rating. Your best resources for reading dealership reviews are: http://www.dealerrrater.com [http://www.cars.com](http://www.cars.com/dealers/reviews/) Autotrader.com is now synced up with dealerrater.com as well, so if you see a car you like on Autotrader you can click straight over to the dealership's reviews as long as the dealer has subscribed to this service. I don't trust Yelp very much as they seem to disproportionately favor negative reviews.

I leased a car from Spitzer Toyota. The Manager and Financing guy were great. Kitty the Saleswoman not so much, very pushy. I'd still suggest the place though.

I bought a new car from Ryan at Kenny Ross Ford South. Low pressure and didn't try to push us into something we weren't interested in or couldn't afford. Also, a friend is the sales manager with the Jim Shorkey Auto Group in the Irwin area- ask for Justin B. *note* I believe both dealerships sell based upon volume, not commission, which I know is a concern for some.

You have a virus. You need to run an update on your anti-virus software.
So, if anyone knows a reputable used car dealer (don't laugh, I'm serious) in the Pittsburgh area, I would appreciate advice. Thanks!

Enterprise Rent-a-Car sells used rental cars. Salesmen are not on commission, so there's no BS.

If someone is looking for a new or used vehicle, it is best to read Consumer Reports and then decide what size and price level appear appropriate. After that it is possible to search the internet to see exactly what may be available in the area. Don't make any quick decisions. Instead check a prospective vehicle thoroughly. Like · Feb 6, 2013
