Does anyone know of an inexpensive excercise gym
Jen P. replied:
http://pittsburghpa.gov/citiparks/oliver-bath-house $60 family, $30 adult, free if you're a disabled vet, half-price if you receive welfare benefits. Buy it right at Oliver bath house (they are open today 9-9) and it's good all year, at any city pool.

Come say hello at Stout Training! We are a Renzo Gracie affiliate, my brother Warren Stout the head instructor is a black belt under Renzo. He also trained a lot under Shawn Williams. We have a pretty wide range of programs, for beginners and all the way up. We also have an MMA Techniques program, a Muay Thai program, a Kettlebell fitness program, and a self defense program. We have both recreational and competition BJJ, MMA, and Muay Thai, including a full MMA and Muay Thai fight team and BJJ competition classes. You can find our schedule at StoutTrainPitt.com/members-schedule How long have you been interested in/doing BJJ and MMA? If you text or call the number on the website I'll answer. If you mention this thread you can try some classes for free. I'll also do an intro lesson with you if you'd like. Have any questions about us? There are a few schools in Pittsburgh, and we definitely have differing cultures. Come check us out, I'd be happy to show you around and such, and check out the other options, then see which fits you best.

Stout. It's the Renzo Gracie affiliate. It is also amazing. Instructors there are top notch and it is a real tight community.

Steel city is very good and has a ton of really talented guys. My recommendation is to look what area you'll be staying in, how far your willing to travel, and just try out all your options out and see what fits your needs

Former student@Steel City, great program and partners, lots of class times, clean facility. Miss it everyday that I'm not there. Big thing for you might be distance, so one place I'll throw out there is [Wright's Gym](http://wrightsgym.net/), an affiliate of Steel City...it is an actual gym, there is world class Muay Thai and krav maga programs, the owner of the gym just earned his brown belt and Steel City's instructors also teach there (I'm pretty sure) Good luck buddeh

Lou Armezzani has a great school in Monaca, PA, Northwest of the city. He's a great guy and an active competitor. He's also an Atos affiliate. Pridelands PGH.

My friend has a newer school in Pittsburgh, True Believer, I believe. They are an Abraham Marte affiliate.

I train in New Jersey, but I traveled to Pittsburgh once for work and I visited Steel City. They were so welcoming and amazing to me as an outsider. Really solid instruction and competition training if you plan to compete. Sick seminars too, they have a good relationship with people from all over. I didn't get to check anywhere else out on my last visit, but I would suggest trying each of the places within the distance you want to travel, and feeling out which one feels best.
Gyms that are by appointment/reservation Looking for some recs on any types of fitness centers that are by appointment only / taken covid precautions seriously...
CharadeUR replied:
Ascend in the South Side has two hour booking windows. It is primarily a climbing gym but has a free weight area, some cardio machines, and yoga classes. [Website](https://www.ascendclimbing.com/)

I can only speak to the aquatics center at the Bairel YMCA as being by appointment only. Has been working well for me since Aug.

Anyone know if there are any gyms in Oakland or on campus that alumni can use for free or pretty cheap? Bellfield, etc?
Chuck F. replied:
Heard Planet Fitness is $20 per month. $12 is Damn? Shenley Park has a nice track on flagstaff hill you can jog. Buy a bike?
Brett G. replied:
I've heard Planet Fitness is reasonably priced. Will have to see if there is one close to me. I meant damn in a good way haha.
Stephanie M. replied:
You could definitely try to just walk into Bellefield, but also as an FYI the city has a number of recreation centers that are free to city residents. The gyms aren't the fanciest but they'll get the job done and a number of them offer fitness/conditi oning classes which are also free or alternately very low-cost/donation-based, or you can play basketball. The one by us in Polish Hill has donation yoga on Wednesday evenings and runs some boxing/MMA classes. http://pittsburghpa.gov/citi.../community-recreation-centers
