There's no magic pills, but there are many people including me reversing symptoms with a plant based diet. A good chiropractor to check your nervous system can do wonders too. http://nutritionfacts.org/video/fibromyalgia-vs-vegetarian-raw-vegan-diets/ http://nutritionfacts.org/video/fibromyalgia-vs-mostly-raw-mostly-vegetarian-diets/

I have been taking practicioner strength magnesium for many years ... Great for migraines as well as fatigue.. The only place I can get it as I live in small country town is online at four body.com.au. They are very good and quick to deliver ..

I have been taking Mag Glycinate for a few years and it has helped with cramping and sleep. Really notice it when I run out. I get mine from a compounding pharmacy too. You should find one in Adelaide. I know my supplier brings it in from overseas. Good luck.
Sinead posts,
hello my fellow fibro friends,
I live in Adelaide and was wondering if anyone has seen Dr Richard Kwiatek? is he any good? im after good and bad reviews,...
Lily P. replied:
I haven't been to him hut I go to Dr Hugh Sheppeard in nth Adelaide, I find him pretty good. But he dislikes proscribing painkillers, but my gp usually proscribes my pain killers.
Heather R. replied:
Dr Kwiatek definitely knows more about Fibromyalgia than many. If you can cope with his abrupt manner, it is a benefit to have a doctor who actually knows the disease. I have refused the drugs and he was OK with that, because I researched other methods of treatment and discussed them with him, tried different supplements, diet and exercise. I'm currently not seeing him regularly, because in his words, "he wasn't able to help me more than I was helping myself", but there's the option of going back any time I need to. Bottom line, if you can manage to not take his remarks personally and be hurt by them, he is a very knowledgeable doctor. If you need a doctor with a nice warm manner, you might want to look elsewhere, but you might not find a congenial doctor with the same depth of knowledge of Fibro. Hope that helps xx

Dr Barbara True is amazing at Wakefield house

Hi Sinead ... Gentle hugs:) I think I have met Dr Kwiatek once but usually see the visiting Rheumatologists who then report back to him. I have my appts at the Outpatient Department in Modbury Hospital every 3 months. I find the people I do see are caring and quick to run tests (blood tests, xrays) if they feel it is necessary. Getting pain meds is another story. They seem to lean towards anti inflammatory medication which I find very frustrating. It would be nice to feel what it is like to have no pain ... even for 1 hour. Also they write to your gp after each visit if they feel anything needs to be changed or your condition is better/worse and what they suggest should be done. As for massage or acupuncture I cannot help you with that as I do not have these treatments but I am sure someone else will be able to assist you there. Hope you have a great evening:)

I see Dr Kwiatek. He’s a little quirky, his initial examination is very thorough and he’s a thorough historian, so it’s best to go in with notes so you can give him accurate information. He’s not a man to mince his words and he is very direct, however I like that approach - but it’s not for everyone.
Melissa B. replied:
Dr Kwiatek was great for me. He is rather quirky, I'll agree, but then so am I. He will definitely focus on weight as an issue, but I did (ahem do) have an issue hehe I didn't have any issues with heavy drugs but I was also confident enough to tell him what works and what doesn't. One of the best in my experience
Sally's Q
Hi Luigia I'm just wondering if you could please possibly share this on the page? Has anyone got any suggestions for alternative therapies that you have found...
Em O. replied:
Dry Needling - the ONLY therapy natural or not, that has worked in 8 intensive, therapy strewn years. I have searched til I was so discouraged I was at my wits end, I tried everything, including Acupuncture, and Laser Acupuncture, Hypnotherapy, Iridology, Physiotherapy, Aromatherapy, Cupping, Psychotherapy, Naturopathy, Hydrotherapy, massage, physio manipulation, Chiropody, I could go on for years. I eventually got referred to a new Physio, he said whats wrong, what treatment are you here for. I just looked at him with that worn out expression thinking there's nothing you can do for me mate. I was sooo wrong. Research it. In my opinion it makes much more sense for people with Fibro than acupuncture or any other option, because it treats trigger point spasms. By my third appointment, I told him he had to get me off ALL my medication. As far as I am concerned, this is the magic treatment I wish I had found so long ago. If you decide to try it, make sure that you go to an EXPERIENCED, trained professional. *much love on your Fibro journey* xx

It takes a while for that stuff to leave your body. Some drugs effect some folks. Drink heaps of water. CoQ10, magnesium chelate, B12, B Complex can also help. Try Exercise Physiologist who specialises in chronic illness. Less activity is more and a excellent diet is key with fibro. Best of luck with your journey. ☺

I am seeing a NUCCA (National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association) Chiro. There has been success in reversing Fibromyalgia by seeing this sort of chiropractor. The pain that us sufferers feel in our necks is caused by a misaligned Atlas and Axis bone in our neck which causes our bodies to be out of balance and has a terrible effect on our central nervous system. Re-aligning these bones in our neck can reverse Fibro. PLEASE EVERYBODY - google ATLAS HEALTH and read their section on Fibromyalgia. Its worth your time. Do your research because there is hope to piss off this terrible disorder

I take 2 Cybaltas and 2 Dothep and have no trouble sleeping. Recently have been going to ENAR Therapy which has helped with neck, shoulder and lower back pain. I am on a gluten free diet and have been since my 3 rd child was born so as a family I managed eating gf while the other 4 members ate normal food. Too expensive for all of us to change.

Alternatively, I have found the most incredible naturopath named Madeline Bishop. Her friend also has FM which means she is very empathetic and understanding. She has helped me more than any doctor I have seen. Removing gluten and diary from my diet has been an incredible leap in the right direction.:)
