Dr Jim Kosmas. At the moment he is at GP Axis Prospect but does travel to the other GP Axis clinics. Give prospect a call on 82623327. He diagnosed my hubby at the Seaford clinic and is fantastic. If he isn't taking on new patients ask for a doctor in the clinic familiar with Fibromyalgia. They bulk bill too. Hubby doesn't see him anymore as he is at Prospect but we have considered travelling to Prospect from Seaford just to see him. He is that good. If you need further assistance let me know.

Have just found a new GP and she has suggested that I see a Psychologist that the Pain Clinic refers people's too. I can get it on the bulk billing list if I have a thing called a Health Care Plan, that the GP can do. I havnt had time to look into it yet but your GP should know about it . I have been referred to two Psychologists prior to this and found them absolutely useless and did not have a clue. Walked out on them both after a couple of traumatic sessions. Can you get your GP to refer you to local Health centre, have recently seen one and was ok.. Hugs .

It's one thing trying to convince a Dr that this is real. I have worked my entire life and even forced myself to work after being diagnosed 6 years ago. It has got to the point where I find it is very difficult for me to work because I have extremely bad & debilitating relapses. One time couldn't get out of bed for three months...next time seven months in bed etc. So I have applied for Disability Support from Centrelink because I feel I need to stop work completely - at least for a couple of years to try and sort this thing out. Centrelink staff that reviewed my capacity to work was so non-compassionate I felt ten times worse than when I try to explain to my Dr what is going on. The guy had me in tears because I feel these people who are supposed to be there to help us just don't seem to believe or they really just don't care. I swear ...if I am forced to work at this point I am not sure how much more my body can take. I so wish I was well enough to work so I didn't have to deal with people like this. Waiting anxiously for the outcome - whether they will approve DSP or make me look for work.

I think Amy Underwood is great. She is very good treating mood disorders but also specialises in pain management. I've had Fibro for 20 years and kissed a lot of medical frogs ... I found her excellent. She works at the Wesley and St Vincent's.

It's not in your head you have just experienced what so many poor patients experience from doctors that don't give a damn. If their wife, child, ect were going thur this it would be a different story. I have witnessed this for the last 25yrs working as an RN in the US. Try a gluten free diet and try to eliminate sugars which exacerbates symptoms. There's a female doctor @ OHSU in Portland, Oregon that suffers from FM and has written a book that is very insightful. Figuring Out Fibromyalgia Current Science and the most effective treatments By Ginevra Liptan, M.D. ISBN# 978-0-9828339-7-1 you must remember what people post and books that you will read are only tools to better symptom relief. What works for one person doesn't always work for others. With this chronic disease it is a lot of trail an error. Again, don't let a doctor that is apparently to incompetent to understand this disease process to discourage you. Best of luck to you Mandy:)
