I used nipple shields when breast feeding (because it was the only way my daughter would feed) but they were great, no pain during latching, no cracked nipples etc. The medela range are the best I've tried https://www.medelastore.com.au/Breast-care/2001593-contact-nipple-shields-m-20 mm-retail-blister-2-shields?gclid=CjwKCAiA1O3RBRBHEiwAq5 fD_FNIIGnVOxw9Vdb00 dG0MTbHgwOc0 pHed11HeWS_Zq72Kx2 eFRaB-RoC5 foQAvD_BwE
Sinead posts,
hello my fellow fibro friends,
I live in Adelaide and was wondering if anyone has seen Dr Richard Kwiatek? is he any good? im after good and bad reviews,...
Lily P. replied:
I haven't been to him hut I go to Dr Hugh Sheppeard in nth Adelaide, I find him pretty good. But he dislikes proscribing painkillers, but my gp usually proscribes my pain killers.
Heather R. replied:
Dr Kwiatek definitely knows more about Fibromyalgia than many. If you can cope with his abrupt manner, it is a benefit to have a doctor who actually knows the disease. I have refused the drugs and he was OK with that, because I researched other methods of treatment and discussed them with him, tried different supplements, diet and exercise. I'm currently not seeing him regularly, because in his words, "he wasn't able to help me more than I was helping myself", but there's the option of going back any time I need to. Bottom line, if you can manage to not take his remarks personally and be hurt by them, he is a very knowledgeable doctor. If you need a doctor with a nice warm manner, you might want to look elsewhere, but you might not find a congenial doctor with the same depth of knowledge of Fibro. Hope that helps xx

Hi Sinead ... Gentle hugs:) I think I have met Dr Kwiatek once but usually see the visiting Rheumatologists who then report back to him. I have my appts at the Outpatient Department in Modbury Hospital every 3 months. I find the people I do see are caring and quick to run tests (blood tests, xrays) if they feel it is necessary. Getting pain meds is another story. They seem to lean towards anti inflammatory medication which I find very frustrating. It would be nice to feel what it is like to have no pain ... even for 1 hour. Also they write to your gp after each visit if they feel anything needs to be changed or your condition is better/worse and what they suggest should be done. As for massage or acupuncture I cannot help you with that as I do not have these treatments but I am sure someone else will be able to assist you there. Hope you have a great evening:)

I see Dr Kwiatek. He’s a little quirky, his initial examination is very thorough and he’s a thorough historian, so it’s best to go in with notes so you can give him accurate information. He’s not a man to mince his words and he is very direct, however I like that approach - but it’s not for everyone.
Melissa B. replied:
Dr Kwiatek was great for me. He is rather quirky, I'll agree, but then so am I. He will definitely focus on weight as an issue, but I did (ahem do) have an issue hehe I didn't have any issues with heavy drugs but I was also confident enough to tell him what works and what doesn't. One of the best in my experience

Personally I think everyone with fm owes it to themselves to at least get xrays taken & be assessed. I thought it was a bit of a wank until I started feeling the benefits. I actually have follow up scans showing my spine correcting alignment. It's amazing. I go to Absolute Health at Nambour. They combine chiro & physio in the one practice which is awesome as the two disciplines are a natural fit.
