I use Willamette International Travel here in Portland. (They do domestic too.) My agent is Christina, but E's dad (who regularly travels all over the world and has kept using WT despite moving to California years ago), has a different agent that he really likes. From what I hear, they're all good.:)
Is anyone a travel agent? Is that still a thing still? I need one
Jessamy F. replied:
Bonnie@bonaventuretravel.com I've used her a couple times with success and my folks go through her often. shes been able to find me flights for cheaper, though I have also beat the prices she and other agents find a couple times. I've found orbitz.com to have cheapest international flights lately. Where you going?!
Joshua D. replied:
Mad success recently with: http://flights.google.com/ But they don't list Southwest Airlines.

Mark has always used Julie's Travel Desk in LO. We booked our Hawaiian honeymoon there and Mark's booked a cruise through them. Looks like they do a lot with international travel:-)

www.kayak.com, https://www.hipmunk.com/, www.seatguru.com Really really great sites, you don't need a travel agent.
Do we have a local travel agency here? If so, what are the pro's & con's of going through a travel agent? TIA
Beverly B. replied:
Banner travel, right beside Sears in Scappoose. I used them for a trip to Germany. The pro is if there is a problem you call them and they take care of it. Another pro is there is no cost to you

I'm in The Beat Goes On marching band and we're lucky to have a travel agent as a member. He does a fabulous job for us. China, New Orleans, San Antonio, Canada, cruise to Bahamas, Washington DC... http://www.travelbytomhigham.com/
Sherri B. replied:
Beverly is right, there is no additional cost to use a travel agent and if anything does go wrong, we are here to help. The problem with booking over the Internet is that there's no personalization and it's harder to change or modify anything. Call Banner Travel at 503 366-0119 and I can answer any questions that you may have.

Can anybody recommend a really great travel agent (in Oregon), particularly for overseas trips? Thanks!
Dana S. replied:
They're not in Oregon but I love Pavlus Travel. We haven't gone to Europe for a few years but they offer great service and discounts. They are in Albuquerque, NM and the lady we book through is named Susan. I live in MO and will book with her anytime we go overseas. cheapertravel.com Susan: 1-866-843-4832
