Happy July 4th Week!
Any recommendations for an honest, good quality Arborist to come take a look at our trees and let us know the health of the trees and what...

I'm having serious concerns about my mulberry tree, and my proposed arborist won't answer the phone. Anyone have an arborist they know and recommend, who's hopefully...
Andrew L. replied:
Arborological Services but I am afraid they can be expensive. Is it a fruitless mulberry? Those have limited life and sometimes it is better they come out unfortunately
Sandy H. replied:
Actually, just had the trees trimmed, and I am *so* glad. Shout-out to Dallas Tree Surgeons...a trained expert walked me around my yard and advised me, and then a crew of five wonderful, tiny young monkey-men with outstanding skill and kindness, who all spoke English, did the actual work. They were patient with my fussiness and nerves, and explained and chatted with me. They did a truly surgical job for a really quite low price and I couldn't be more pleased. I had a timing/quote misunderstanding with Arborological Services (I don't think it was their fault), and don't quite know what happened. But this was a really positive experience and my trees are so happy now, as am I. Crystalyn Roberts, how was your experience with Arborological?
Crystalyn R. replied:
Sandy Hanne -- They came out Thursday to look at the trees. But I'm still waiting to receive my quote. I haven't heard back. Maybe I should call the Dallas Tree Surgeons?
Sandy H. replied:
Lindsey, 214/548-1600. I think it took four days for Arborological to come out. Tree surgeons were there within two.
Cindy C. replied:
Walt or Rodney Wauson at Wauson Tree Service at 214-450-8720 have taken care of my trees for years. If you tell them it's a referral, they're even more responsive:)
Crystalyn R. replied:
An arborist with Arborological Services is coming to assess one of our trees Thursday. I think an assessment, diagnosis and remedy suggestions is $120. Of course, other procedures and pruning is extra. You only pay the $120 once, then you are their customer for life... Meaning additional tree assessments will be free of charge.
Leslie W. replied:
A good reminder that all our trees are suffering, and a little drip irrigation would make them happy. http://isatexas.com/images/pdf_files/Consumers/Watering_Yard_Trees_In_Severe_Drought_Tips.pdf
We just used www.chipperstreeservice.net they did a great job and was reasonable compared to previous trimmers. Edgar is a professional, certified arborist.
Andrew L. replied:
I second the vote for Arborilogical Services. They are serious and don't mess around.
Sandy H. replied:
I had a wonderful experience with Dallas Tree Surgeons. Very reasonable, and did a beautiful job, even with me "supervising" the whole time (being annoying). After the Oncor butcher job, I was really validated that I knew what a good job *was*.... I will definitely use Dallas Tree Surgeons from now on.

we used tarzan tree care and were pleased with their level of knowledge and customer service. it wasn't cheap, but they were right with the other estimates we received. http://www.tarzantreecare.com
Christopher W. replied:
I asked this same question awhile ago here. Had AS come out and Wauson Tree Service come out. Have not had the work done so i cant speak to that but I'm going with Wauson when I do. Rodney was just as knowledgable, an arborist, and the cost was more competitive. Just sayin.
Cheryl B. replied:
With Arborlogical Services, you pay a little more, but they run all your trimmed limbs through a chipper and don't leave you with anything to call bulky trash for. I liked that the last time we had our trees trimmed. We have a lot of trees and apparently they hadn't been trimmed in a while. (We were new owners.) I would've had a huge pile otherwise.
Richard T. replied:
Arborological Services came to us very highly recommended by our aunt (a master gardener who has used them for years) and we used them for both tree trimming and for fertilizing our trees. I have to say that our results were mixed. The fertilizer guys were exceptional, both in timeliness, knowledge and performance of their task. The tree trimming left something to be desired. We had a large limb that the arborist felt very strongly that it needed to come down and I agreed, but then when the crew left the limb was still there. We also had two limbs that were rubbing together (which even this novice knows is a bad thing) and were left in place. We had them come back out and the large limb was removed, but the rubbing limbs are still there and we have a number of dead limbs that I think could, and should, have been removed. We were happy with the price and the overall condition of our trees when they were done, but I cannot give them a glowing recommendation based on our one experience with them.
I'm looking for a recommendation for someone to come remove some tree stumps. Ready set go!

Does anyone know a reputable, reasonable tree service that you would recommend. We are needing to have a limb removed from our pecan tree and have it shaped up.
Thanks!

We have used Personal Touch Tree service. Contact is Jim at 214 328 7213. They have done good work the two times we have used them and they clean up everything when they leave and take it with them.
Barry H. replied:
Try Dallas Tree Surgeon. Good work with arborist who understands the trees. Stay away from laborers with a pickup and cell phone.
Andrew L. replied:
I agree with Barry. Dallas Tree Surgeons are good. If you are concerned about disease and growth issues (and not just the cutting issues) I would recommend Arborological Services. Pricey but serious about that stuff.
Crystalyn R. replied:
I had Arborological Services out to look at my trees. They came out and looked about a month ago. I'm still waiting for them to send me a quote with pricing for the trimming. I'll call the Dallas Tree Surgeon now.
John M. replied:
I agree with Barry and Andrew; use an arborist that knows trees and not just how to run a chainsaw. I've used Arborological Services for the past ten years because of the huge height of my trees and growth issues involving interlocking branches but th ey are pricey. One thing I like is the fact that they clean up well after themselves. They take all cuttings (nothing is left at the curb), they rake the yard for twigs and leaves and blow sawdust off of walks and driveways. I'm sure Dallas Tree Surgeon is just as good. Whoever you use, make sure they're bonded especially if you have large branches over hanging the house that you want them to remove.
Dallas Tree Surgeons were amazing for me. Reasonable, surgical, and well-trained, both in the arborist and trimming ends. My trees got a haircut, and were happy.
Andrew L. replied:
Travis, I recommend Arborilogical Services for what I would call "serious" trees. That is, things like 30+ year old oaks and that kind of thing. The kind of trees that take a lifetime to get in place and add significant value. If someone has smaller ornamental trees, or trees they don't consider all that valuable then I might go with someone cheaper.
I need a tree service to come trim a branch that was blown over during this past Spring storms. Does anyone have an reasonable services they have used?
