Carlos, any reputable provider MUST be licensed by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services. This means they have all of their emergency trainings (CPR, First Aid, etc), have a background check for all staff, are insured, are inspected regularly and are required to maintain attendance and a variety of additional paperwork. You can get a complete list of the providers who are legal and approved provides at the Sullivan County Childcare Council in Liberty. http://scchildcare.com/

Looking into kindergartens for next year. We are 14609. I thought #12's HOLA program was a choice (city wide) school, but it isn't listed. Has this changed? And any...

There is a Kindergarten Expo in either January or February at Central Office. Each school will have a table...I will be there representing #58!

We loved HOLA. Even if it is not listed, contact Sue Allen at PS12 and get tested for HOLA entrance. Last year there were dual language programs in all three "zones", so they took HOLA off the citywide lottery in the books, but then changed their minds and included it (or some such nonsense). They took citywide students into HOLA. At the end of 3 rd grade, my daughter was reading and writing on grade level in Spanish, and we don't speak it at home (your milage may vary).

The Highland Park Neighborhood association usually hosts a school choice meeting every year with principles and parent representatives from several of the southeast area schools. Here's the link to last year's meeting: http://highlandparkrochester.org/news-events/?s=School+Choice. It's a nice, friendly atmosphere. They usually have reps from several of the citywide programs, including the School 12 HOLA program. Anyone is welcome to attend.
Friends I am trying to find childcare options for Arwen for when I go back to work in a few weeks. I have Monday and Friday covered. I'd like to avoid daycare if I can....
