My niece, Kate Golden, does beautiful work. Find her on Facebook at A Golden Touch Photography. She's based in Derby, NY, but occasionally does work in the Rochester area. Definitely worth a call.
Looking into kindergartens for next year. We are 14609. I thought #12's HOLA program was a choice (city wide) school, but it isn't listed. Has this changed? And any...
Megann J. replied:
There is a Kindergarten Expo in either January or February at Central Office. Each school will have a table...I will be there representing #58!
Elizabeth A. replied:
We loved HOLA. Even if it is not listed, contact Sue Allen at PS12 and get tested for HOLA entrance. Last year there were dual language programs in all three "zones", so they took HOLA off the citywide lottery in the books, but then changed their minds and included it (or some such nonsense). They took citywide students into HOLA. At the end of 3 rd grade, my daughter was reading and writing on grade level in Spanish, and we don't speak it at home (your milage may vary).

The Highland Park Neighborhood association usually hosts a school choice meeting every year with principles and parent representatives from several of the southeast area schools. Here's the link to last year's meeting: http://highlandparkrochester.org/news-events/?s=School+Choice. It's a nice, friendly atmosphere. They usually have reps from several of the citywide programs, including the School 12 HOLA program. Anyone is welcome to attend.

OK friends we are new to the Greece area and are looking for a good preschool for our 3 yr old this year.. any suggestions? Latta Rd area.
Greg I. replied:
Jessica we sent Caitlin to Montessori starting at 2 1/2 years old and I will say as far as programs go that was the best. I have also heard good things about Doodle Bugs if you like a very regimented semi strict location. Not very familiar with the area though. If you move to the east side RailRoad Junction/Toddlers workshop is great and my daughter loved it.
Dawn O. replied:
Holy Cross is were both my boys went. It's in Charlotte, but it's only 10 min. Love it there! Where do you live? I use to live off long pond and Latta, but now in Hilton.

Procrastinating mom needs help!!! . . . can anyone recommend a preschool in Brighton?
Arlene L. replied:
Two I can recommend: The Children's Center of Brighton. See Susan Cinquino. She is the director and she is exceptional at Early Childhood. I worked with her for about 5 years. Also, the Winton Road Cooperative Nursery School at the Unitarian Church (they just rent space there...) is a solid EC program. Good luck!
