Hi. We live in Garden Park in Garden Valley. Our internet is not working out. Can anyone in our area suggest a good high speed internet service? Thanks.

Try Ruralnet speed and prices are great. 530-401-1092 His name is Brian Ruralnetca.com
Diana M. replied:
Called Cal.net and was told they are at their capacity and not accepting any more customers at this time.

Cal.net has been great for internet, but is dropping their email service at the end of January. It will be available at $5 per line, so I'm sure many like myself will be switching to Yahoo or something else. This will probably free them up to take on new customers within the next few weeks.
Andrea R. replied:
Cal.net - I live in a bit of a valley and service can be iffy when it's overcast/in-climate weather but otherwise no complaints. Unlimited rocks.

What ISP should I get for my new place in Oakland? Anyone have really good or bad experiences with companies providing internet to Oakland or SF area?

Check to see how far your location is from the point of service. I have had terrible problems with DSL in more than one house. Sonic.net is local (Sonoma County), but they use AT&T lines, so you need to check that first. Sonic has smart customer service and smart technicians. I loved dealing with them. I am now using Comcast (terrible cust. service) but I have to have cable. 1 ยท Yesterday at 8:33 pm

Comcast seems to be the only real option. DSL sucks - you'll never be able to get anything more than 15 Mb vs. 50Mb+ for cable. Here's my Speedtest result - http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3596549400

In a pinch, I've recorded through freeconferencecalling.com

Depending on your area freedompop.com can be a great backup. It is free up to a certain MB size It won't help you this time around but could save your bacon next time.

Anyone have an Internet service provider they recommend. The saga with AT&T continues - almost a year now and they still can't get my Uverse account resolved.
