San Jose Parks and Recreation has horseback riding camp at Emma Prusch Park every summer. http://www.sanjoseca.gov/prns

5 is not young for riding. I used to ride endurance and 5 year olds would do 50 mile races. A couple of them did 100 miles when they were 5. Depends on the kid and the adult who is sponsoring him. My juniors that used to ride with me are not in their 30 s with kids of their own. I have two very good friends who teach centered riding in Almaden. Giulia Orth who is at 408-800-8314 and Becky Hart (who is a three time world champion) at 408-425-5860. Giulia helps me out with my horses. Her daughter used to help me but she is going to Davis to be a vet and not here now. Giulia is very good with kids. They teach on Shillingsburg Road the Almaden area.

Campbell Community Center has lots of great camps!

Two Sentinels Girl Scout Camp (near Kirkwood—free transportation from Pleasanton) is life-changing. Do not need to be Girl Scout members to attend.

The Cambrian Community Center has dome great camps, California Sports Center on Malone, maybe the YMCA on the Alameda, possibly some of the local churchs.

Jenny...if you can't find a church with available spots, you can always register your kids individually for Hume on their website. Hume is amazing! I worked at Wagon Train for two summers in the late '80 s!

You might look atvthe Curch on the corner of Neridian and Curtner they have VBS and Then Central Christian Church on Meridian just past Curtber, Foxworthy Baphtist Curch on Foxworthy and Quinto or Kilo they have VBS.
