This is not a simple question. What do your boys like? Where do you live nd is an easy drive for visiting day important to you? Many camps have Rookie Day where the kids spend s day at the camp. I think camps that have Rookie Day hsve an edge because young kids often like what they experience. I live in NYC and we toured Androscogin (I loved it) but my son did Rookie Day at Greylock (in the Berkshires) and he picked that camp, which made for easy drives to visiting day. It is s sports camp but little camping like Kennebec. Andro is probably most closest to Kennebec.

Big Spring Ranch for Boys in Florissant, Colorado. I cannot speak highly enough for the experiences I had there, the way that they teach one to honor nature, the fantastic out of camp trips. Horseback riding, rock and mountain climbing, backpacking. They have stayed in touch with me ever since I went there in late 60's. I also went to Kennebec Jr. They were very different kinds of camps, but I got much more out of Big Spring. More choices, more independence, more self-reliance, great comraderie, nearby sister camp, with several dances during the term. Check it out. http://www.sanbornwesterncamps.com/bigspring

OAKLAND COMMUNITY,
Looking for a coding/web design/video game design camp/program in Oakland for 12 year old boys. Any suggestions?

I have been researching them all week for the kids myself. I found several cool websites, and games that teach coding. ID tech is great, but waaaayyy too expensive for just one week of camp. $900-$1400. Especially for parents with more than one child. There are much more inexpensive or free online programs. I found a few. I will send you al list of what I have found so far. Otherwise, you can apply for financial aid in Late January, early February for Camp Galileo.
