Doesn't Dr. Jennifer Cattet with Smart Animal Training Systems run a Diabetic alert dog program? You might want to check as I'm fairly certain she does.
Beth F. replied:
Not all diabetic alert dog programs are created equal. Some are charging huge amounts of money for "scent imprinted" puppies that are no where near ready to be service dogs. I would recommend starting at the Assistance Dogs International website ( http://www.assistancedogsinternational.org/ ) They only deal with accredited organizations and have a data base that is searchable by what kind of serviced dog you are looking for and the geographical area.

Most vets around here take Care Credit and the humane society clinic is low cost

La Plaza vet in cotati. Super nice guy and all about animals
Jennifer K. replied:
Most of this is rubbish. She is just the right age to start having seizures if she has epilepsy. Nothing to do with surgery, diet or meds. Apply for Care Credit on line. Most vets take it and for bills over $200 it is 6 mos no interest. Get your info from a vet. Not well meaning but misinformed people. (DVM here). She’s adorable! Best of luck to you ❤️
Julie C. replied:
Adorable!! My little guy started having seizures and it ended up being a heart murmur. Care Credit should help you and her get the care she needs. Good luck to you.
Pam I. replied:
If you can bring her to Calistoga Pet Clinic (942-0404) to our amazing vet, Dr. Franquelin, who discounts for our rescue, Wine Country Animal Lovers will pay up to the first $250. If it runs more, you can pay us back the additional amount in payments after the holidays. You will need to call them and make an appointment and tell them WCAL will be paying (call Pam). Hopefully it's something simple. Dogs can sometimes seize and it's not serious (I had a Golden that seized and was fine otherwise) so hoping that's it and he can put her on meds If it's frequent. Recommend you and anyone consider pet insurance going forward for peace of mind and these types of unexpected health issues (they don't cover pre-existing conditions). Good luck. And I agree with the prior comment, lots of well meaning advice but you need a vet.
Sandy P. replied:
Yes call the Human Society on Hwy 12....hope your sweet baby gets better!

Go natural...so many people are doing this for their animals...research the company, look at their social media reviews and pages, look for consumer testimonies and GO FOR IT. Results are amazing. Your vet is probably gonna say nope. https://canna-pet.com/

giving my dog CBDs stopped his seizures. https://www.facebook.com/392055327611321 Canna-Pet is the brand use use. Much cheaper than meds and easier on the body too. Side effect - can help prevent cancer :) good luck with your sweetie
Marianna R. replied:
Go to PetCare Emergency or The VCA emergency (both24 hours).....you can get help there via care credit......if the problem is with the previous surgeries, the previous vet is liable for costs......but don’t let your furry baby suffer till then. Get help ASAP
Heather A. replied:
Redwood veterinary clinic is by Costco and they really do care about your animals. Go between 8-5 their normal hours and they can talk with you and help you. My mom and I have been taking our pets there since 1987. They really are amazing there.

I have used the feline spray sold at vets that supposedly smells like a Mama cat and calms them down. Contact Forgotten Felines or the SPCA to see if they have a sliding scale for visits. Best of luck!

Did you lose your Vet due to the fires? If so, try Animal Hospital of Sebastopol. 823-3250. They are working with displaced residents and clients who’s Vet Hospital burned down.
Christina C. replied:
I took my kitty to Heritage Vet by coddingtown and they did a Good Samaritan exam(normally $50) I only had to pay for the medicine my kitty needed. Also there is Compassion without boarders that has free clinics 2 times a month. https://cwob.org

I can’t recommend Laguna Vet hospital highly enough. They are on Hwy 12, closed today, 707-528-1448, tell them I sent you. If it’s more urgent try Petcare, wonderful but can be on expensive side if you don’t first explain that your funds are limited, they will definitely work with you. Good luck.

There is a community animal clinic in Farmer's Branch that is worth the drive! They have saved us so much money! It's first come, first served. I know it's off the Valwood exit on I-35. It's 14021 Denton Drive. 972-247-2221. The vets are great. (And they are do much cheaper than the community clinic in Lewisville.) Good luck!

Flower Mound Vet! Dr Shaffer is amazing!!! And he won't charge u an arm and a leg.
Catherine P. replied:
Old orchard animal clinic- Dr Kirby, my cat had an abcess from a bite, he had to drain it and give her a shot, he had to keep her overnight that time but it was still just over a hundred bucks, most of our visits there are around 80 bucks but he'll get straight to the point, doesn't pad your bill with unnecessary things, doesn't make you feel guilty or shameful like some vets in the area (my cats were strays, they are indoor outdoor and I've had 2 vets scold me about letting them out... ) he's a good guy!

Catherine P. replied:
Kyra does your cat go outside? If it does, and its a bite, it could be infected but the length of time you said (a few months) would mean it turned into an abcess, this can end up fatal in animals as the infection will continue to get worse and end up causing sepsis, get him into a vet ASAP if there's any chance it was a puncture wound from another cat. When this happened to me (twice now... my kitty thinks she's a badass) Dr Kirby had to drain it once and the other time she needed an antibiotic shot, and take home antibiotics both times.
Wikiup Vet. Lost both my kitties to cancer couple years ago and they went above and beyond.
