If Krawchuck is still around, STAY AWAY! The trades contractors were okay, but as the general contractor, Krawchuck was a rip off. Over charges. $$ in his eyes every time I would ask about anything.

Find a designer to come up with a set of plans it doesn't need to be too fancy, just a floor plan. Get the building permit yourself. Make sure you get quotes from multiple contractors. Make sure they are quoting off the same thing with the same info. Have them provide what's included and what isn't. Don't always choose the cheapest. Ask for references. If you're finding a general, ask who they use for sub trades.

Fully finished included a bathroom be prepared for the $30 k range on pricing. Obviously depends on final finishes and overall size, but that is good average.

Go to Kijenga.com. It is a business who matches you up with a contractor who can meet your needs. I used them to build the wood railing on my deck. You tell them what you want and they match you up. The contractors will then call and give you a quote and you pick who you like. It is a good company. Give it a try.
