Bertrand Hug, who now owns Mr. A's, was the maître des. I used to do the books and bank deposits when June and Wanda were out of town. I took phone reservations, and handset and printed those cool personalized matchbook covers. There were a couple of customers who came in just to drink an outstanding bottle of wine or two- no meal. I didn't know any better then, but Mon Ami's wine selections were as fine as any other establishment in San Diego County. I think I only got one free meal!
