My wife raves about PR at Partners in Old Town Alexandria. She recommends Katie Harty specifically, but from what I understand all their stylists do good work.

Urban Halo in Clarendon. Ask for Rebecca. She's very good with short hair and managing it as it grows out. Always very conscious of framing the face and cutting it so that you're still letting it grow, but it doesn't look ridiculous. http://urbanhalosalonarlington.com/team/

Shameless post: My wife is a hairdresser at Statements the Salon in Woodbridge, her name is Caitlin. They're an incredibly successful salon. My wife also happens to be a former instructor at Paul Mitchell the School and has been a presenter at the national gathering held by that school for a few years.

If you are near Old Town try Stylist at North. My wife goes there and she is always happy with them. http://www.stylistsnorth.com/

I like Color Touch on 23 rd St in Crystal City. It's fairly inexpensive and they do a great job.

I'm not a lady, but I got recommended to this place by a lady. It's Casal's in Claredon, (http://www.casalsatclarendon.com/). It's been great. I personally use Courtney (https://www.instagram.com/courtneyhouser.hair/)

I swear by Casal's de Spa & Salon in Clarendon. I go to Courtney, and it costs me $55 for a wash/cut/blow dry. She's friendly and will give you exactly what you ask her. You can make an appointment online too! Here >> http://www.casalsatclarendon.com/
Any open hair salons that can untangle matted, damaged hair? I'm wondering if anybody in the area knows of a hair salon or something that would be able to handle my...

If you want to try it at home, buy some of the big bottles of cheap conditioner, and a wide tooth comb. Use like a whole bottle at a time, like drench those mattes with it. Use the comb from the bottom and work your way up the knot. You may have to rinse and repeat a few times.
Lessa22 replied:
I vote for the “whole bottle of conditioner” thing. I occasionally neglect my hair and when I wake up to find mats my brush can’t handle and all my hair clumped horribly to one side this is my only hope. I take the cheapest bottle of conditioner I’ve got and just slather it on in the shower. Then I very slowly, working from the ends, use a travel sized brush to work my way through. Let it soak first and don’t forget to was and heavily recondition again before getting out of the shower. Good luck OP!

100% second/third/etc+ing using an entire bottle of conditioner and working slowly bottom to top using a wide tooth comb. Give yourself time, be patient. Take breaks if needed! Tie your breaks in with rinsing out and reapplying, it might assist in loosening those tangles. Also OP, I recently started sleeping with my hair in a loose pineapple-style atop my head via a scrunchie, and in a satin cap; it's really helped cut down on the tangling I experienced overnight. You might even look into those spray-in detanglers as part of your hair care going forward.

jojoba oil does an amazing job !!! just put generous amount all over your hair and brush it out starting with a wide tooth comb and working ur way in with fine tooth comb
