Question From Community Member Denise Cunningham Forbes:
"I am wondering if anyone can recommend a good dog boarding business in and around St. Albert?"
Ryan R. replied:
Barkers Pet Motel and Grooming is amazing and very handy if you need to drop your dog off for the day. We hae been using them for years now. Great staff - family owned and ran. They do also do extended boarding, but when we board we take our dogs to the Ranch. I know the guy who owns the Ranch with his wife, and he is a fantastic person who takes pride in the animals. Plus for extended stays, the Ranch has tennis lessons and other fun activities for your dog!

NOT Barkers my 4 pound Yorkie ended up with both Giardia and Coccidiosis after a weekend with them, The Ranch is fabulous!

Because we get so many questions about pet services in/around St. Albert - We've started a Pinterest Board with links to many of the popular options. It's not a complete list of pet boarding options (as not all websites are Pinterest friendly and some don't even have websites) but, it's a handy if you want to do a comparison or when your favourite pet boarding option is full. I recommend Barkers. We love them. Great staff. Nice place. I do not recommend Making Trax. No outdoor space, Not customer Service savvy. More interested in making money than building relationship with customers.

I second Barkers. We love 'em. https://www.facebook.com/BarkersPetMotel

Perfect Place is out by Devon, there`s a similarly named kennel (who`s name escapes me) out by Spruce Grove though. I do home visit pet sitting if you end up stuck without a kennel that can take you. I`d drop in a see your pup in his home once or twice a day (depending on your needs). Send me a PM if you`d like more info
The A. replied:
I think it must be the same place Becky Shepherd. The address is just confusing. Because on their home page they advise that they are located 1 km South of the Devonian Gardens but, then under "Location" the specific address is in Spruce Grove http://perfectplacekennels.com/

Ranch Kennels. Big or small, they are awesome

Jodi-Lynn, my dog just stayed at The Ranch in August - he came home happy and we we're thrilled with the care and attention he received for the 10 days he stayed there.

We take our small dog to The Ranch and we've always been so happy! When she gets there, she's actually excited:)

We have two little guys and take them to Barker's Pet Motel in Riel Industrial Park.

Ranch Kennels. I have only dealt with them for my cats but know people that have boarded their dogs there.
Dog sitting/boarding recommendations. My husband and I are going out of town on July 8th until the 14th. We are looking for recommendations on a dog sitter or a kennel...

My wife and I just used Second Home pet resort in Leduc this past week. They were a decent price, $37.50/day for two dogs in one kennel. We have a lab and heeler and their kennels are quite large. Small family run business, we were pretty impressed and would use them again in a heartbeat. We have used country kennels in leduc as well, another good place but a bit more in price, closer to $45/day for two in one kennel. Both of these are large indoor/out door facilities. The dogs get lots of play time. In town we use Posh Pooch for quick one nighters. They have great staff but it is a smaller, mainly indoor place so it gets crowded pretty quickly. They are ~$50/day for two in one kennel.

I used Little Paws Inn, it was quite nice. Friendly and well maintained. They post a lot of pics to their FB page so you can check up on your fur babies.
