Dog or cat? We've used and loved St. Charles Veterinary Clinic since the late 70 s. Dr. Miles is our main. It's a huge practice though and it's not always easy to get in quickly if you want to see only one vet. My daughters, who have cats, just started using Loyal Companions. If you're looking for new and clean, you definitely want Loyal Companion in St Charles (64 just west of Randall). The owner is very professional and cares so much about the pets. A New Dog in Geneva was great with my dogs. We took them for a visit 1 st & were actually excited to go back when we dropped them off for a stay. It was their 1 st time staying away & Mike took wonderful care of them! Each dog has their own room to settle into when they aren't out playing w/ other dogs. Very personalized care there.
Camp Ruff It in Carol Stream is amazing! It's open boarding and includes daycare so your dog isn't just going to be locked up in a cage all night! They even have a slumber party room which has a bed couches and a tv just like at home and a staff member stays overnight with the dogs and the boarding prices are extremely reasonable. My dog absolutely loves it there and seems upset when we are there to pick her up!
In need of recommendations for a good, experienced and reasonable priced vet for a dog with a torn ACL. Current vet is recommending surgery with a price tag of $3,500...
Laura M. replied:
Dr Bob Cook at https://www.facebook.com/129367070420690Animal Medical Clinic of St. Charles He specializes in this sort of thing and is amazing. Been doing it for over 25 years.
Kristen D. replied:
We used River Heights Veterinary Clinic in Oswego when my 8 year old cocker spaniel tore her ACL. Did a great job and I think it was closer to $2500.
Terry W. replied:
VCA Animal Hospital in Aurora was amazing for our Lab. She was 7 or 8 at the time and had a TPLO. She was good as new and lived to a spry 15.
Carrie K. replied:
Dr. Wimmer at Hillcrest animal hospital. He did acl surgery for our great pyrenees about 3 years ago and it was only about 1200 and did a great job. A bit of a drive but it's worth it.
Jo K. replied:
Dr Miles at St. Charles Vet
Valerie W. replied:
Unfortunately, from all my friends that have had this surgery done that sounds pretty accurate. I think most of my friends have used a specialist at Buffalo Grove Veterinary Hospital. I believe surgery can even go higher then that.
Gretchen V. replied:
My Yorkie had a torn ACL 4 years ago. Surgery was about $1800. Obviously, a smaller dog. We went to Dr. Bongiorno, who is now retired. Now we see Dr. Jennifer Maloney Carroccio at Cleveland Veterinary Clinic in S. Elgin. Very happy!
Anthony M. replied:
Cleveland vet clinic in elgin. Is where I take mine.
Rosa D. replied:

MrsKristin R. replied:
Oak brook Pet Hospital. Little bit of a drive but def worth it. Best prices and the best Dr!
John W. replied:
WITHOUT QUESTION - Dr. Cook at Animal Medical Clinic of St. Charles. We had a dog slightly larger than yours have the exact same issue several years back and we were referred to Animal Medical Clinic. Top notch in every regard. Complete surgical success. You will not be disappointed.
Patti C. replied:
Animal Care Clinic is South Elgin did our dog's for less than that - BUT, he was a senior citizen and not as active as a 4 year old would be. They did something called a "sling repair"
Tracey P. replied:
Definitely call fox valley animal welfare league in Aurora. It's a registered charity. The vet on staff there did a consultation with a co-worker of mine and would have done the ACL repair for less than half of what others were wanting to charge. Around $1,750. She did not do the surgery in the end because her dog is 8 and is managing quite well without the ACL. I know I manage without mine.
Robyn C. replied:
We are taking our shepherd to dr maxwell in Rockford for TTA surgery for her torn CCL this Thursday! $2500 all-in. Has done over 300 of these surgeries. http://www.dogwoodpc.com/t-andrew-maxwell-dvm.pml
Holly M. replied:
My sister works at Riverview vet clinic in Plainfield and she guestamates that it would be around 3200 with the initial x-ray and appointment. They use a tta-2 method which is newer and less invasive. Dr Marion is actually going to Switzerland this weekend to talk about the surgery. According to my sister this method has wonderful results.
Patricia Z. replied:
Dr Miles at St Charles Vet Clinic off Dunham Rd did ACL on our lab several years ago, very successful surgery.
Torie K. replied:
I cannot recommend Dr. Long of Yorkville Animal Hospital highly enough. (He was a part-owner of Geneva Animal Hospital before they sold). He specializes in canine orthopedic surgeries. He's amazing.
Kim W. replied:
Valley Animal Hospital did a great job with our girl. Dr Weichman did a good job! 3 years ago and she's still good. I should also mention this was on an 8 year old 65 pound yellow lab.
Nicole S. replied:
http://www.saintfrancis.org/2013/07/cruciate-repair-tibial-plateau-leveling-osteotomy-tplo-tibial-tuberosity-advancement-tta/ There are several options for repair available. This article gives a pretty good general overview of them. "Shopping around" will not help if you aren't comparing apples to apples. We used Dr Cook at Valley Veterinary Surgery, and I was very pleased because he uses arthroscopy which reduced healing time (he doesn't have to cut through muscle). He does the tightrope procedure. However, if I had a large breed young dog I would probably choose the TPLO procedure at a specialty hospital.
Amy H. replied:
Ive worked for Valley Animal Hospital for over 10 years. All the staff is awesome, very passionate about all our furry clients. We'll always talk you through all your options and we just got cold laser! Super exciting!
Vicky P. replied:
I remember to pay $ 1900 for my dog surgery five years ago. Or vet was Dr. Bongiorno for 13 years, the best Vet ever. He retired and move to Florida.
Lindsay Q. replied:
We absolutely love Bartlett Animal Hospital. Won't go anywhere else. My dog had ACL surgery by Dr. Baker and I'm almost positive it was under $1,000. If not, it was within a couple hundred more. Dr. Baker and Dr. Nelson are the most amazing vets out there. They did get two new experienced vets there, but I haven't been to them yet and so cannot speak for them.

Susan J. replied:
Dr. Adam at Animal Care Clinic in South elgin is an orthopedic surgeon. My sister's sister-in-law just took her dog there for knee surgery. I have taken my 14 year old black lab there for years. She has had multiple surgeries through them and are fairly priced. If you say that I sent you, I think you will get $10 off. Kimberly Coffey do you want to give your input?

I've taken my cats to a few different vets and https://www.facebook.com/1680350662188860 Loyal Companions is the definitely the best I've ever been to. Not many people know of it because of how new it is and the location. Everything is done with a fear free approach and they are just great there. It's evident that they really care for each pet that comes in. I brought my kitten in for a bad infection that would have killed her if they hadn't taken her in for emergency surgery that day. She ended up staying for about a week after to recover and they provided me with updates daily and allowed me to stop by any time to see her. I can't imagine going through something like that with any other vet.

Does anyone know somewhere I can take my cat to get neutered and declawed for cheap?
Taylor T. replied:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thedodo.com/should-cats-declawed-1712034250.amp.html I would read this article before declawing. It's actually a very painful procedure for them. I had a cat many, many, years ago and had that done by a cheap vet. She was in terrible pain for days and her paws would bleed. Years later I learned it's best to keep the nails intact.
Jennifer B. replied:
NO! The reason so many vet practices will not declaw is because it is cruel amputation that has terrible consequences. Consider Soft Paws nail caps, learn to clip their nails, and train your cat to use a scratching post.
Stephanie H. replied:
Anderson Animal Shelter does a Low-cost Neuter (not sure about the de-claw).. but it is FOR LESS than any vets and the staff there was wonderful!
