I used Leanne Falkingham with my latest rescue who was very reactive to other dogs and scared of people. He's perfectly fine now. She came to the house and I enrolled him in a feisty Fido class specifically tailored to get him to overcome his fears. She only does positive reinforcement. I looked at Woof Beach but they do group training which I thought would only provide more anxiety for him. So we went with Leanne. https://www.karenpryoracademy.com/Leanne_Falkingham

Whatever you do, make sure you utilize a training class that relies exclusively on positive reinforcement training. A lot of training facilities will use punishment, e-collars, prong collars, etc to get short term success. Long term these methods are extremely damaging to a dog and your bond. Long term the dogs behavior will get worse despite the short term success. These methods are NOT supported by research. Under no circumstances should these methods be used, if a trainer says they use these tactics even on occasion, run. Steven William Frost might be able to give you a referral to a good class. (For the record, I work at a shelter, and I see the tragic consequences of aversive training all the time).

I would *not* recommend Woof Beach. Their methods are unnecessarily harsh and not supported by science. If you look at their website, they describe their training as "focusing on your dog's natural pack mentality." Domestic dogs do not have a pack mentality, they are not wolves, nor did they descend from wolves. Dogs and wolves are separated by thousands of years of evolution, so behaviorally speaking, they're completely different. Any trainer who talks about pack mentality, pack hierarchy, "alpha/beta," dominance, etc. is using outdated methods that are not supported by science. What science DOES tell us is that aversive/dominance training provides short-lived results and has a high risk of causing additional behavior issues. Positive reinforcement training is scientifically proven to be more effective, efficient, long-lasting, and humane. http://content.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,2007250,00.html https://avsab.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Dominance_Position_Statement_download-10-3-14.pdf https://positively.com/dog-training/myths-truths/pack-theory-debunked/
