If you want to get fit you need to check out Active Lifestyle Fitness and Ashley Brodeur. You can try all the classes for free. It’s not a traditional gym. They offer classes in Barre, Boot camp, total body sculpt, cycling and even have small group sessions and personal training. They also have yoga and aerial yoga. It’s so much fun too with special classes like glow barre ( with black lights) if you want check it out: Active Fitness Lifestyle.com

Crossfit Revelation in Enfield holds several week-long CrossFit Kid camps each summer. Focus on fitness, Nutrition, workouts, games, and more. It's a great program to show how fitness can be fun and it's a great confidence and self image builder. Www.crossfitrevelation.com

If your child likes theater, Broadway Jr. puts on a three week camp at Mapleton Hall in July. My daughter has gone for several years and has really enjoyed it.

High Meadow in Granby is wonderful! They have swimming lessons every day in a beautiful pool, plus a free swim. They also have all kinds of sports, crafts, zip line, archery and riflery. A nice lunch and bus transportation to camp and back home is included. Bus service to Suffield is door to door.

I've heard good things about High Meadow too. Not sure about the price tag...

Trying to think ahead. Any recommendations for summer camps? My son is 12 and I want to try to figure out what to do with him while I'm working. Thanks.

Salmon Brook does a fun one with older kids. They do off site things like six flags! I think they have added hours for an addition price.

Windsor Locks has one that they can go to up until the summer before freshman year. It's decent, it's at the pool, so they can swim 3 times per day, every week there is a field trip and they can even get lunch there, all of those things are included. The boys mostly liked it.

I went to Camp Northfield for years growing up. Loved it. It's a Christian camp and even though I'm not religious now enjoyed it greatly.
