Suggestions on a unique space for a small party My mother is retiring in January, and my sisters and I want to throw her a small retirement party (30-40 people). ...

Absolutely. Try the [Local 315 Brewing Company](http://www.local315brewing.com) in Warners (a bit west to help out the travelers). They host private events and can have cider and wine on hand for non-beer people. Their space is perfect for 30-40. They also have contacts with food trucks that’ll swing by at your request. I’d recommend [Toss-n-Fire Pizza](http://tossnfirepizza.com/phone/catering.html), but I’ve got other recommendations if you give me an idea of what you’re looking for. [Mo’s Pit BBQ](http://mospitbbq.com/#catering) is nearby, and they cater. If Mexican food is your thing, [Sassy Taco](https://m.facebook.com/sassytacofoodtruck/) might come out. If you’d like to hire a band, I’d suggest [Harmonic Dirt](https://harmonicdirt.com).

As far as downtown, Citronelle recently opened and has a beautiful space for events. Empire Farm Brewery in Cazenovia has a great basement private area that we have attended events at.

You mentioned AirBnB, does that mean you’re looking for a place to sleep over too? Red Mill Inn in Bville has event space with decks on the canal; they also have guest rooms. We had a birthday party for my Mom there a few years ago, we had a choice of caterers and it all worked out very nicely. Last summer we hosted a wedding rehearsal dinner at Kitty Hoynes for about 25 people and it was great. Call there and ask to speak with Cindy Hoyne.

Not sure how much you're looking to spend. Dinosaur BBQ has a private room on the 2 nd level. Might be a little big for your group. Maxwell's in Hanover has a private room with the perfect sized space. They also have great food options. Money no object: You could probable host the event in the Bistro Elephant or Lemongrass section of the restaurant.
Trying to "buy local" I need a florist, cake baker, and possibly a caterer.
