Any recommendations on museums to go to in the bay area?

The Dali museum in St Pete. Make sure to sign up for one of the guided tours. I'm not much of an art museum fan, but this museum is pretty incredible.

There are a bunch, in St. Pete I think there are 3 that I know of. 1. The Dali Museum 2. The Holocaust Museum (Personal Fav) 3. The Fine Arts Museum Tampa 1. Mosi 2. Florida Aquarium Brooksville (If you really fucked up on directions and you ended up in the worst place in Florida.) 1. Brooksville City Hall (Free and has some interesting (surprisingly) modern art display)

Try the Mosi http://www.mosi.org/ . It has some really great exhibits that come through.

I like Tampa's Museum of Art, but it is small. Check what the current exhibit is. I want to say a really cool one is coming in. Also, St. Pete's normal art museum (not the Dali museum) has a nice permanent collection, if also small. Again: check the visiting exhibit. What sort of things are you looking to see? St. Pete is great because you can go to the museum and then go down Central to look at local galleries.

My childhood was spent in New York City so I'm a bit of a museum snob. Here's my two cents. MOSI: The main museum is really disappointing IMO, but they do get really cool traveling exhibits. Both Bodies and Mummies were there in the last few years and I'm sure they will have plenty more reasons to go back in the future. Their iMax is also phenomenal, just make sure you go early enough to get good seats that are decently high you you're going to kill your neck and still miss most of what's happening. Dali Museum: Awesome, a must see if you're into Dali (or art in general). Holocaust Museum: Pretty cool museum, you're likely to see everything in one trip so you probably won't be back unless you have a specific interest. Tampa Museum of Art: Another pretty cool museum if you have an interest in art. Even if you're not really into it the museum is worth at least one run.
