It's not in your area, but Tina at Alterations and Creations on Roosevelt in downtown Phoenix is the absolute best tailor I have experienced. She takes your looking great personally and is very willing to discuss options with you to make sure you're getting the best results possible.

I've used [Ali's](https://www.yelp.com/biz/alis-fashion-design-scottsdale?osq=tailor) in Scottsdale several times for jackets and clothes and Lana does a fantastic job. Highly recommended.

I use Brother's Tailors, they have one location on Camelback and Central. There's a light rail stop just north of the shop, and their other location is in North Scottsdale off Tatum and Thunderbird.

I've brought my leather motorcycle gloves, leather jacket, and mesh jacket to [Zizzo](https://www.yelp.com/biz/zizzo-tailor-design-boutique-scottsdale) in Scottsdale. He is southwest of the old town area so not too far from Tempe. If you want someone who does just motorcycle stuff I can ask around for that.

Things like the Kevlar thread and thickness of leather is going to limit your work to someone who mostly works with leather. A regular tailor or seamstress isn't going to have the equipment or experience to work with this stuff. There's more to it than sewing.
Your best bet would be to check with some of the motorcycle dealers in your area. They probably have names of some people who work on this type of clothing and can do it right.
In the past when I just wanted some heavy duty or leather covers sewn, I ended up at a vehicle upholstery shop because they had the right machines to do it. The sewing wasn't as precise as is needed for protective clothing though, so you definitely want someone with experience and references with those items.

There's one called Areti's Alterations located in Paradise Valley Mall and she does a phenomenal job and she's the best price in the Valley. I've gotten several things done by different tailors but will only go to Areti's. :)
