OK, Villagers. I think this is going to be a tough one. I'm hoping somebody can help. I have a dear friend who has had a rare illness for 8 years. She is my neighbor...
Innovative Therapies is located in Ocala but has locations in Summerfield and Lady Lake. Kim takes patients referred from neurologists but I don't know if she or any of her staff are certified as neuromuscular. The important thing is that she has been in this area for many years and knows everyone in her profession, if there is a certified neuromuscular, she will know. Uses the one phone out of Ocala for all locations, 1-352-433-0091, dial the one and area code.
Heather N. replied:
Innovative Therapies are great for regular PT or OT but NOT for neuromuscular. Been there done that sadly.

Anyone out there who recommends a good neurologist in The Villages or near?
Linda M. replied:
I use Dr Sherry Hamnic, across form Barnes and Noble in Sumter Landing. I have been going to her for a couple of years. Some will say they don't like her but each to his own!! I do like her and she is keeping my Neuropathy in check!!
Heather N. replied:
I use Dr. Rubin (after seeing Dr Hamnic and deciding I couldn't deal with her. ) Dr Rubin is good and got me in at Mayo. I appreciate that he's not afraid to refer elsewhere if he feels something is "beyond" him.
Mary M. replied:
Dr. Martir in Leesburg. She is exactly my style. Tells you like it is and then you work together to build a plan. Have gone to her for about 16 years. Have never wanted to consider another.
Art W. replied:
Mary, what's this alcohol statement about Dr H, my wife started going there
I'm looking for (some) doctors while I snowbird here for 6 months. Can anyone recommend a good urologist and
gastroenterologist and neurologist
Thanks
Nancy M. replied:
Gastroenterologist would be Thomas Mathew GI Associates with offices in the Sharon Morse Medical Office building 27/441 behind the hospital. DO NOT SEE DR. SMIRNOFF (neurologist) he has a poor bedside manner.
Deana M. replied:
Dr. Smirnoff was wonderful to me. He found my brain tumor That no one else did. Sometimes Attitude determines treatment.
Has anyone any experiences with a local Neurologist? We've checked out a few, and the patient reviews were pretty bad. Even my wife's doctor has a problem with them!! ...
Juliana P. replied:
William Gaya, in Ocala; supposed to be one of the best. We went to him and very very satisfied. All business, little chatter but has a great reputation.
