ISO a new pediatrician.
Recently my pediatrician deviced my daughter has allergies and that I should give her 2mL of Benadryl 3x a day. I thought that was a lot and said...
Lauren C. replied:
I would never give my baby that much Benadryl on a daily basis. You were right to trust your instincts & do your own research. We also see Dr Cotter and love him.
Tiffiney P. replied:
A lot of very good Dr's at Pediatric Care (15 th and gage) we use Dr Randal Schumacher and LOVE him. He has a very good reputation.

Laci R. replied:
Dr. Nelson is amazing!
Jessica A. replied:
the pharmacist told me they have to label it that way now for safety bc too many parents were abusing it or giving too much. But if the dr prescribes it its usually safe. I was always worried about that too tho.. its scary! I dont like giving my lil ones even tylenol unless i really need to. My kids go to Dr. Teresa Crowe on 6 th.. 785-235-0335. Ive only been there a few times but so far I like her and the nurses.
Benadryl can be very dangerous to children less than 25 lbs. I would get a second opinion. Michael Cotter is awesome but also really busy. He is super smart, great with explaining anything and everything, and great with kids. He is at PediatricCare at 15 th and Gage.
Looking for referrals on a great pediatrician and a babysitter who would take a 2 month old. I'm not due until March but I would appreciate your guys' input.

Kylie D. replied:
Dr. Parr has been great. And I would probably be available to babysit...so hard to say since that's a few months away. I have a 4 month old son and currently babysit my 3 month old cousin. I have plenty of references that you may contact.

My son really liked Dr Cooley
John S. replied:
We have three kids, aged 15, 11 and 11 months. They all see Dr. Heeb. She was the most recommended pediatrist in the Topeka area when we moved here three years ago. We have never had a problem with her, whether it was scheduling appointments or coming in when we didn't have an appointment. She answers her phone on the weekends! She always calls you back, and she has 31 years experience. She is still top recommended.
Michelle C. replied:
Dr. Vansickle at pediatic associates off 6 th by gage. I could watch the baby. I have three boys 8,6,and almost 2.

I would also recommend Dr. Cotter at 15 th and Gage. He is the best pediatrician my children have had by far!! We were with one previously mentioned doc for a year and left very dissatisfied. We then went to another previously mentioned doc for 4 years ...See More
Marie N. replied:
Jodi Scott same with my 15 y/o niece, she has never felt uncomfortable! She has a pretty serious heart condition that requires her to carry a defibrillator with her everywhere, and Dr Cotter has been amazing. He made sure to provide the family with information and resources needed to properly take care of her!
Lę-Ann H. replied:

I need to get suggestions for a good Pediatrician in Topeka. Our family doctor is leaving her practice :( I want someone who is good at what they do (of course) and one...

Dr. Saylor was the pediatrician for the 3 orangs that were hand raised at Topeka Zoo in the late 1980's / early 90's. GREAT man. And yes, they had a human pediatrician for their first years...same shots, same teething issues, same stuff! The zoo vet wasn't that specialized and other zoos recommended a human pediatrician for them, as they had done.
Marion N. replied:
I love the bench! He was really special. Being a nervous young mother, Dr. Saylor put my fears to rest. He was a wonderful doctor to my children (and me)
Elizabeth S. replied:
The 5 in my family had Dr. Saylor and my kids had his fiance Dr. Heeb. How's that for ironic?
Angela M. replied:
Oh wow! I had no idea Dr Saylor died.....out of touch here......I know we saw him for a while when we were kids.....before that, we saw Dr Green...
John D. replied:
In the 1950 s, I think it was Dr. Crouch who made house calls to our home. I had to be enticed out of hiding by him blowing up balloon animals.
Chris Z. replied:
Elizabeth - my kids go to Dr. Heeb nowadays. I think she started at that same office as Dr. Saylor when I was a kid
Jacquie R. replied:
Dr. Saylor was mine, and my daughters. She was born at 28 weeks and was a tiny preemie. He was so wonderful working with Dr. G in the NICU. Dr. Parr took over her care after he passed. Such a wonder family of physicians, Ed, Mark, Steve and their father, Leslie.
Susan M. replied:
Loved Dr. Saylor!
Rebekah W. replied:
Mark, Ed & Steve were all wonderful doctors as well as their father. I have used them all with no regrets. Wonderful family!
Linda L. replied:
I worked for Drs Cherry, Ramsey and Kreibel and Dr. Leslie Saylor was a surgeon and the father of the other Dr. Saylors.
Shelly S. replied:
I saw both Dr. Saylor and Dr. Cherry as a kid
Susan C. replied:
^ Joyce Freestone Dr. Cherry was also in with Dr. Saylor. I worked for them fresh out of h.s. in the fall of 1982-1983.
Kelly S. replied:
CW Bowen....
Chester M. replied:
As a young parent I took a list of questions I wanted to ask Dr Saylor. I was expecting to ask the questions but he just took the list and started answering them. I told him I probably didn't spell things very well and he said "no problem we will figure them out". So thankful for a great doctor.: }
Roxie F. replied:
Dr. Saylor attended my son's birth, an emergency C-section, as he was on-call that night. I barely remember him coming into my room to let me know even though my son was breathing a little too fast, he was OK. I was so grateful for his kindness and assurance during a really terrible delivery. I wanted to meet him and thank him properly when I recovered, but he passed away shortly after.
Jan C. replied:
Dr Cherry was my regular doctor - and even once or twice my daughter's doctor just before he retired, but he was always a little scary to me.. Dr Saylor was less intimidating!
Don M. replied:
Mark and Ed Saylor were both doctors as was their father
V'Ann W. replied:
I had Dr. Beck.
Kelly S. replied:
Dr Bowen
Denise W. replied:
Van Sickle
Devona P. replied:
Both of my children were patients of Dr Ed Saylor. He was the best!
Marsha T. replied:
I had Dr. Cherry for my kids. He just didn't have much of a personality. Saylor would have been much better.
Kelli B. replied:
I had Dr. Ramsey and then Dr. Saylor and Dr. Saylor was my kids'. Sure do miss him!!
Anita M. replied:
I had Dr. Warren Roberts. I miss him.
Michelle M. replied:
Ed Saylor was the pediatrician, his brother Steve was a GP, he delivered my daughter. Recently retired.
Mary G. replied:
I had Dr. Crouch. He could talk just like Donald Duck. He called me little George after my Dad ( even though I was a girl ) Dad said kids loved him but not mothers. He apparently didn't have much patience for mothers.
Becky G. replied:
He was my daughters doctor. I really liked him! He was a good dr. I could not stand Dr Crouch!! Annoying!!
Chris Z. replied:
I remember being really upset once because I had to see Dr. Cherry instead. Not because I didn't like him, just because I was sick and they said Dr. Saylor was home sick also.
OK Topeka parents. I am looking for a new Pediatrician for my Lil Maisy. She is 4 and I'm not happy with the way Dr Heeb at Partners in Pediatrics has been treating her...
Sheri W. replied:
Wow that surprises me Dr. Herb was Toni and Donald dr for years. Wish I knew someone for ya. Good luck hon
Megan W. replied:
We use Pediatric Associates & love them. We use Dr. Nichols but he isn't taking new patients. Sucks for you.
Tricia H. replied:
I go to pediatric and associates, Dr Cooley, he's really good, my kids have had him since birth
Dusty B. replied:
Dude. We take our son to Topeka Pediatrics to Dr Cain. She is Awesome. They have walk in hours everyday. They have after hours call in and more often than not Dr Cain herself calls you back They really are for the the kids they have. And you know the issues our son had she came HIGHLY recommended.
Lisa C. replied:
Just in case you needed one more person to say it... Pediatric Associates we see Dr.Nichols and my sis-in-law is a nurse there.
Valerie B. replied:
First, I used to see Dr.Heeb as a child. Second, Birdie had chronic cough for months (kept her up at night) and we had the same battles. Doctos gave her meds, steroids, an inhaler, blamed mold in the school, called it allergies...in the end it was acid reflux. Most people don't realize it's like the second highest reason for a continuous cough in kids. Slight change of diet and occasional pill for flare ups. We had to see a allergist and he suggested it right off the bat. Might be worth asking whoever you do take her to. Good luck!!!
Kimberly M. replied:
Dr. Norzian pediatric associate. Looks at everything with a fine tooth comb.
Staci S. replied:
Jerry Hill I haven't seen our Dr on this list but he is with ped care as well, Dr.Thomas Moscow. He is very attentive sometimes comes across brash bc he wants ALL the info but he always says, "you are their Mom, you know them best" which always makes me feel better. He is silly with the kiddos, they really like him. You will run into our problem eventually when little Miss gets bigger he isn't comfortable doing the full exams so you will eventually have to switch to a female but he is not scared to prescribe meds either. We have had the same cough for months and when we were there we left with a nebulizer, antibiotics and nasal spray to cover all the bases. Good luck!
Jennifer S. replied:
Pediatric Associates does. We love them the APRNs do seem to juggle a bit but Caleb sees my pediatrician Dr. VanSickle. They have walk-ins from 7:30 or 7:45 until 8 or 8:30. They always have a nurse on call & walk-ins on Saturdays & maybe Sundays. I am an RN so I am pretty tough to please. I hate to play Devils advocate but this upper respiratory stuff that is going around is hanging for like 6 weeks & if they listen to her lungs & she isn't wheezing & they are clear it really, usually has to run is course & the ABT resistance is getting so out of control docs have to say no more. All of that being said, most of the time the best diagnosis/feelings that something isn't right comes from the parent. If you think it is more you are TOTALLY doing he right thing & are being a GREAT advocate for your daughter! Go Dad!!!!
Jerry H. replied:
Pediatric Associates is sounding like a good choice. Rj, I was hoping that this cough would go away thinking it was related to her allergies but it's not. That's why I need her to get some medicine for it. I don't know why they didn't address the issue when I was there last week when her ear was hurting her. The antibiotics for her ear worked great but when she coughs so much that she isn't sleeping good, that bothers me.
Jessie S. replied:
Pediatric associates is wonderful. I will never take my kids anywhere else and we have dr. Sarah Nelson. She is the absolute best. I have heard good things about Cooley too and we have seen him a couple of times during the walkin in clinic. It is an amazing group of dr.s with dedicated nurses.
Jessie S. replied:
Dr. Cooley always knows exactly what the problem is when we are there for the walk in clinic. He is thorough, and so is Nelson. I say one of those two and ur golden.
Jerry H. replied:

Ashley R. replied:
We use Dr. Salmanzadeh at 15 th and gage. Behind family video. She is excellent and knowledgeable and has superb bedside manner.

Ashley F. replied:
I think its subjective bc Dr Nichols missed sleep apnea in my then 2 yr old daughter even tho we saw him 3 times a month for the iss
Stephanie T. replied:
Dr Nelson at pediatric associates.
Ashley H. replied:
Dr. Cain wasn't helping us out much.... always had new nurse practitioners everytime we went for Zayne. He has health issues so it was very frustrating explaining his stuff everytime we had an appt. I only saw Dr. Cain if he was in the hospital, which was terrible since they didn't listen and I think one time after that. Needless to say its not like that for everyone, and she's not a bad dr but for lil Zayne I had to get someone who would continuously see him instead of diff people each time. But for the other two kids she was great. We now go to Dr. Schumacher (sp?) Behind Family Video off Gage. And he's awesome, I always see him when we have our appts, he also keeps up so well with Children's Mercy and what goes on there. We are actually getting somewhere now which is a wonderful feeling!
Donald J. replied:
