Eric Eyerly does great work and is knowledgeable. Reasonable too. Has done work for my dad and my grandpa. Sometimes has a lot of jobs so might be a wait but it's worth it to get quality work done. Super nice guy too. He's located in Winterset.

Best local mechanic + tire place? Hi all! Former Iowan here.
My brother lives in Des Moines. I've completed a little project car for my brother to drive around....

I loved my experience at Hilltop Tire in the East Village.

Shade tree auto in grimes is the only place besides me allowed to touch my cars. I’m sure there are other good ones but I trust them implicitly and their awards speak volumes for them. Clint runs a good crew.

Discount tire, they will air up your tires for free- just pull up to the cones they set out daily for air and they will do it. Also they fix flats for free if it's fixable, they rotate tires for free as well. You don't have to buy from them either. Great service and friendly workers.

J&K Automotive in Urbandale has never steered me wrong. They are always honest with the work they do and will tell you if they find anything else wrong with your car. Not sure if they have a Honda master tech, but they seem to work on all makes and models!

Heartland Tire in Waukee has always served me well. They’ve worked on my Acura and Subaru and done good work and not pushed me to do extra work. I’ve sent friends there and they’ve treated them well also. Only problem is they’re usually pretty busy.

Bensons Imports. Amazingly honest. Saved me over a grand last time. Have never had any repeat issues either. Solid.

I go to drake garage. So far, they've never been less than honest with pricing.
trent_pee replied:
Performance auto in Norwalk specializes in Japanese cars, and they’re import nerds that know the cars inside and out. Not ideal if you ever have to tow it from Des Moines, but a AAA membership gets you 3 free tows a year for like 60 bucks. If you’re an awesome older bro that will give your little bro a whole-ass car it might be worth it. I have bare bones liability insurance and it was easier to get a AAA membership than trying to fuck around with trying to get roadside assistance with a cheap policy

Local mechanics, tire places, restaurants, bait shops, hardware stores and most every locally owned business has been forced to close down because of COVID-19 but mostly the federal government who refused to pay business owners who had their business shut down
I need a good trustworthy mechanic for my 1997 Chevy Blazer. Any recommendations? Thank you.

Willard Garage in Waukee. He does not do work that you don't need. Brian is the owner and Peggy his wife works the front desk. Tell them I sent you if you go. Real nice Christian family.
