ANDawesome - Looking for a good cosmetic tattoo artist

I recently got my eyebrows microbladed but I went over to Vancouver, as I found the microbladers over there have more experience. I went to Nicole Johnston and am very happy with the results. It cost $600 which included a touch-up appt. Studio Sashiko does amazing work but it's very difficult to get an appt as they do a lottery type of system for booking appts since it's so high in-demand. From what I've seen on Instagram, the only artist I would see in Victoria is ES Lashes & Brows https://www.eslashesandbrows.com/ I would definitely follow a few artists on Instagram and try to find healed pictures. Also, if the price is cheap I would avoid. They're tattooing your face afterall.

Jenny at Milk & Honey on Pandora does microblading, otherwise there is a lady at Carne Tattoo on Johnson that does traditional permanent make up.

Try out Painted Lotus (901 Gordon). Heard nothing but good things.

Fly the Cage in behind Fernwood Square is pretty decent, but I'll admit I haven't looked into the artist as much as I should.

Anybody have suggestions regarding vegan tattoos, where to go, who to see, I'll even take suggestions on what kind and where to place the tat.
Shawn S. replied:
depending on what you're looking for and availability i would check Five Cents' portfolio and contact them to see if they are vegan (and even if they aren't they're probably the best tattoo shop in town) - http://fivecents.grandportfolio.com
Pierre-Luc L. replied:
Wicked Wandas on Bank street. They have a sing in the window about all vegan tattoos.
if you don't mind waiting online is the best, culture craze is about 20 a taper while a set form 14 g to 00 is no more than 30 online http://www.bodyjewelrysource.com/ear-stretching-kit.html
anyone know of a good piercing / tattoo place in Victoria?
Erin M. replied:
Blank Tattoos and Piercings, they're super nice in there. Me and two friends just got pierced on saturday and they are just in downtown Victoria

Taylor S. replied:
Blank Generation is the only decent studio in town if you care about quality and APP standards. They aren't a member, but they're good. If you happen to be in Nanaimo for any reason, Tranceformations is easily one of the best studios in western Canada.
Alternative hair/makeup artist recommendations for Victoria, Canada? Hello everyone,
I'm hoping for some recommendations for wedding hair and makeup artists in the...
2cookieparties replied:
My cousin lives in Vancouver and does alternative as well as more traditional hair and makeup. She's really talented. That's a little ways away but it might be an option. https://www.facebook.com/hairbylorill/ Edit: she does a lot of costume makeup but her portfolio also includes some bridal work.

Purple hair, inked, pierced bride checking in here! My all time, absolute favorite markup artist is the one I used for my first burlesque show! My advice would be to check out the artists that do hair and makeup for burlesque dancers. And an easy way to find out, at least in my area, would be to Google the dancers in your area and look at their media profiles; most of us will credit our hair and makeup artists directly in the social media posts. And as a bonus, burly girls in my area tend towards the alt looks and the burly makeup artists are great at playing up our hair color, ink and piercings!!

Erin Bradley has done some pretty funky makeup looks and she's excellent and professional. I've worked with her a lot. I don't know her as well, but Lindsay LaRocque did makeup for an alternative bride I photographed. She did a great job and I think her personal style leans that way too. Edit: Erin does hair too, but if you need someone else for hair, Elena from Conscious Hair is awesome. She has half her head shaved and great unique style. Though if you don't mind going to a salon, there are a ton of cool places in town.

Not bagging on anyone local but... Travel! I get my work done at Penny Black in Van.

Check out tt2 tattoo on Facebook. They are in peace river Alberta. OR check out Bella Rose Tattoo Studio on Facebook, she's done 3 out of 4 of my tattoos. Works out of her house (fully licensed) but is in the process of opening her shop in Grimshaw Alberta. Peace river and Grimshaw are about 10 minutes away from eachother, and only a 1.5 hour drive to Grimshaw if you go through goodlow

Victoria B. replied:
Brandon Nixon owns Nixon tattoos in Dawson and he's pretty amazing and Elaina the owner of Buzz Bin in Dawson does pretty good work as well... As much as anyone can brag up tattoo artists in the end do your research on artists in the area and make the decision for yourself. Good luck
