I've taken my kitty to Dr Chris Tom at McKenzie Veterinary Services on Carey Road at Tillicum (next to the 7-11 on the corner). I've been impressed with his thoroughness and his non-rushed manner as he carefully explained everything we needed to know. There is lots of free parking in the lot beside them, it's wheelchair accessible, and the front desk staff are very friendly, too. They have an impressive website which gives you a virtual tour (if you want) and there are several vets working there, which means they offer awesome hours - open 7 days per week, including until 8 pm M-Thu, 5/6 weekends. They also offer mobile services where they come to you and can give a wide variety of care in your home! Of course it costs more, but if you have very anxious pets or perhaps a few, it might be worth it for you to have them come to you! Check out their website and see if it suits your needs. I'll be going back. http://mckvets.com/

I like Dr Poon on herald in the old Hudsons Bay building
Andrea N. replied:
Dr Poon is great!
Devo D. replied:
I go to Chris Collis at Gleview Animal Hospital, but it's out in Langford. They are fantastic though.
Carrie H. replied:
Dr. Kam Brar of Lifeline Animal Clinic is fantastic, very patient, takes his time, and prefers the cheapest method of treatment! I like Dr.Macartney of McKenzie Clinic too - but steer clear of Dr.Rae who was beyond disappointing, very dismissive, didn't listen, but sure knew pricing for things we didn't require!

Kindred Spirits on Fort is awesome

At home pet euthanasia I never in a million years ever wanted to have to ask this, but does anyone know of a veterinarian willing to do at home pet euthanasia at late...

Mckenzie Vet Service on Carey Rd has a mobile service not late night though http://mckvets.com/about-us/house-calls-pacific-mobile-veterinary-clinic/

I am so sorry you're in this position. I recommend contacting the vet hospital on Roderick Street. They are 24 hours and are very compassionate. I don't know if they do at home or not, but they'll be able to advise you if there is someone available. Again, I am so sorry for you and your boy. I've been there, and there are just no words to express my sympathies
CoffeeGeeker replied:
I'm assuming you found a solution by now. Just wanted to chime in that, you have my sincere sympathies and I just feel gutted for what you and your boy had to go through. It's never easy. I've had to do this 5 x in my adult life, and each time is harder than the last and the first time was so seriously difficult, emotionally.
brandnewface replied:
I'm so sorry to hear that. I don't think they travel, but Central Vet Hospital is open 24 hours. http://www.centralvictoriavet.com
bohab12 replied:
Try Marilyn at Ardmore Vet Services. She was excellent when we had to do the same.
nrtphotos replied:
Central, no one will be able to do a house call unless you have contact info for your regular vet. Phone Lakehill first thing tomorrow if you can't find a solution, they deal with these types of situations regularly.
pharismod replied:
You could try Elk Lake Vet. They came to our home to put our dog down (sniff), and they have an emergency number. Call the main line and it will tell you what to do for emergencies.

Don't be tempted to euthanize him / her yourself to end your companions pain. Breed, species, age, etc. complicate the drug, its dosage, etc. Likely it would put your friend through fear and pain, until daylight. My sympathies to you.
ClamburgerHelper replied:
Central Victoria Vet Hospital is open 24 hours, but they don't do house calls (and I totally understand if you don't want to say goodbye in a clinic setting). I would give them a call anyway though, they might have a list of vets willing to do house visits late-night. Someone may be willing to make an exception for you if you're unable to fit into their regular hours as well, there's no harm in asking.
If you're worried your boy is suffering though, for his sake I would consider seeing a vet earlier if possible, if not for the euthanasia then maybe for some medication to make him feel a little more comfortable until your regular vet can come make the house call.
Very sorry you have to go through this, I hope you find a solution that works for you and your cat.

Can anyone recommend a vet in the area... I'm just past Saxe Point. My cat has fleas... I need medication and I guess you can't get it over the counter
Lori K. replied:
i highly recommend McKenzie Vet Clinic, they're on Carey rd, if you can't find someone closer, think there's a clinic at tillicum and Gorge, but not too sure of any others. I found Mckenzie very affordable and very compassionate when i had to put my beloved cat down.
Andree P. replied:
Best Vet I have ever been to is Admirals Walk Clinic
Andree P. replied:
I use them all the time and they are so friendly, I would shout it from the treetops to everyone if I could lol. Admirals Walk Pet Clinic is the best!
Sean M. replied:
Agree with Mckenzie Vet. They're great!
Karen M. replied:
Its a ways away from Esquimalt but we use Breadner Veterinary on Keating Cross Rd. They are the best!!
