SO my dog may have perforation in his intestines or stomach and his vet told me if I cannot afford it (because I know it will be a hefty amount) that they cannot bill me...
Jon W. replied:
Most vets allow you to get Care Credit Cards that allow you to put it on credit.
Andrea H. replied:
If there is an immediate need for surgery due to a perforation, the longer you wait, the worse the situation will become. There are very few, if any, veterinarians that will bill clients. If Care Credit doesn't work, consider a personal loan from your bank if you have collateral to back it up. I am sorry for your pup...hope you can find help soon.
Lakeview Animal clinic in Latrobe does take and hold post dated checks. I'm not sure what options they offer for larger surgery bills.

I need an emergency vet. Had an apt. Here in pa and they called back and said it's too severe our dog sounds like she needs surgery so there's no point in coming in...
Faith E. replied:
If you need surgery, they won't do it today. I used to work at a vet clinic. I know Angeles Clinic and Greywolf switch weekends for emergencies. If you call either one, you will get an operator, and you can explain to her what's going on and ask if a vet can call you to give you advice and prob check out your pet to see what's going on. If no one answers at one (you said Greywolf was closed), call the other, Angeles Clinic - you should be able to get someone.

Mars Animal Depot - Dr. Haustavich is terrific.
Betsy H. replied:
We just tried Bakerstown Animal Hospital for the first time and were delighted. They were professional and caring and not nearly as expensive as I had heard. We switched from All Pet because we had a situation with a cat and they wouldn't allow us to bring him in - said they were closing in 20 minutes and wouldn't wait. Their loss - we have several animals and will move them all now.

Definitely leave VCA. They almost killed my golden retriever with unsterile practices and improper surgical technique. Used them for years, but ever since VCA took over, they've gone done hill and are more of a vet mill than anything. Wexford Veterinary Hospital has been wonderful to us, especially taking us on quickly as new patients to do follow-up care since we wanted to do nothing further with Northview.

I have been going to bakerstown animal hospital for almost 30 years . I won't see any other dr other then dr. Reed . I just woke up today my cat was throwing up blood they had me come right in and since Dr. Reed has operations all morning they squeezed is in. my kitty is gonna be fine . My Jack Russell was bleeding from his bum once I thought it was gonna be bad . Dr.reed was able to figure out he got a boo boo from Climbing trees . I never had to worry about un needed tests . He has always been a wonderful Dr. I don't trust my fur babies to anyone else . And today when I took my cat for throwing up blood I thought it would be bad . He did an X Ray and no obstructions so he is keeping him for the day to watch and give him fluids . Please give Dr.Reed a chance he is absolutely the best

We use house calls..off of Mcfann road in Valencia. I love both Dr. Claire and Dr. Kevin. They're wonderful with both of my dogs. And the best thing is they come to you if needed although I have ever used this service personally.
We go to Mars Animal Depot. We've been going there for several years and their staff is always friendly. They're also open later in the evenings and have Saturday hours, which is convenient for us because we both work in the city. I'd recommend them to anyone.
Diane W. replied:
We love VCA Duncan Manor. We used to go to Bakerstown, and really liked Dr. Reed, but the other doctor there was horrible. They also charge for more for services and medications than other vets we've tried.

Olympic Veterinary Clinic on Front Street is great toward pets and people. Also, if price is an issue, they can sign you up for a credit situation. That worked really well for me when my cat got sick from the move here last fall.

I haven’t found a new vet but do not use sequim animal hospital. the vet is nice enough but the receptionist are all horrible I’ve been treated very horribly by them every time I came in for my puppy’s shots. I was told they would help me in a second and I stood in front of the desk and watched the two ladies fix someone’s bill while no one else was standing in the office for 21 minutes (I watched the clock) before they took the 30 seconds to schedule my pups next shots. To top that when I called because he was having an emergency they refused to see him because he had his ears cropped and told me to take him back to Mount Vernon where he had his procedure done, his stitches were embedding in his ears because he healed much quicker than normal. Took him to Olympic vet and they removed them for free and were very friendly and said any vet tech should have been able to do that in a few minutes.

I like Family Vet. It's less "corporate" than some of the others, and the staff has very little turnover (which I like). They also do boarding, so that's good when/if you have to travel. Another good choice is Blue Mountain (on Old Olympic Highway).
Tyler S. replied:
I recommend Rick Simpson oil for the dog that's having seizers. I've been through several vets over the years. Blue Mountain is the last vet my dog has been to, and I'll be staying with them as both my dog and I had good experience with them.

Goldie was very near death and Dr. Jensen made it her mission to diagnose her and saved her life. I had taken her to three other vets...the ones mentioned by others...and spent alot of money....but she figured it out! It is a cozy, comfy place! They call you and your animal by name..they only see one patient at a time...I can't say enuf!
