FRDC (we use Dan Weiner and April Smolski). Geoff Genser is a dear friend of ours--we don't work with him as a therapist, but he is a wonderful person--I'm sure he would be very helpful. IOL is also a good option. Good luck.

Therapy With Bad Insurance Hi Guys,
After a period of time where depression/ anxiety has been really effecting my personal and professional life, I've realized that...
Synapse82 replied:
Have you checked what the therapy service costs through insurance? Although you may have a ridiculous deductible a lot of things “don’t count” towards it and you pay separately, For example my deductible is 3 k, but physical therapy sessions if I needed it are listed at a set rate of 75 per session. Worth checking, probably still expensive but May not need to fill that deductible. Also most plans “reimburse” 50 percent back of that amount.

I work in a related field and hear this excuse a lot. Look into your insurance and your company’s EAP program because a lot of times you get some sessions covered for free. It’s usually free per issue...so you may get 6 free sessions for anxiety and another 6 free sessions for depression and another 6 free sessions for substance abuse and so on and so on.

Ugh I was in the same boat as you. My insurance was so expensive and useless I realized I was better off quitting my job and going back to school, where I could take advantage of the free counseling and health services for students. But I know that’s not feasible for everyone... Are there any mental health agencies in your area that use a sliding scale for payments /don’t deal with insurance?
LawrenceHugh70 replied:
Yo, the fact that you want help and want to improve things is great, but the only thing I ever learned from therapy is that there is no help and you have to do everything yourself. Therapy is a waste of time and money. The only person it helps is the therapist, who gets paid to do absolutely nothing.
