Todd Rice - +1 (804) 481-6633 Amazing work. Never had an issue after he came. He charged less than the guy who "fixed it twice" before because he's so quick to diagnose and fix the problem. Seriously good. He also installed a humidifier and Uv filtration in our house... No more coughing at night!

Replying now so i remember to look into it tomorrow. My landlord used a place i really liked for a couple of different things. i actually dealt with the people, she just told me who to contact and she paid. I even got the invoices from them and the prices seemed very reasonable from what i know. I'll look through my email tomorrow.

Ive used advanced appliance and loved them. It's a local family. Most of their business seems to be by word of mouth, so they arent lacking in customer service. http://www.advappliance.com/

http://greenstarheatandair.com/ They replaced a transformer at cost, gave me a labor discount, waived the "holiday" fee and (like 45 bucks) in order to fix my AC this summer. I had to call them back the next day b/c the air would not shut off when the correct temp was hit. (I told him he didnt have to stay and wait that day as he was busy and it was going to take a while for my house to get out of the 90's) Come to find out that whoever built my house was a real shit bag when it comes to wiring. He rewired the whole unit under the house for free.

I'm in Zebulon, and we've used [Aire Serv](http://easternwakecounty.aireserv.com/) on more than one occasion. They serve Raleigh as well. The times we've needed service have always been on a weekend or other after-hours times, and they've always responded very quickly, don't charge for overtime, and don't overcharge for the repair. We love them.

I have a maintenance contract with Newcomb & Company. They are a little larger, but still local. They have residential and commercial divisions, their prices are set in stone so you don't have to worry about getting taken advantage of, and they do timely quality work. I've used them for about 3 years and would highly recommend them. http://newcombandcompany.com/residential

Thanks for the suggestions. I called most of them, but Icy Hot is on their way to diagnose currently. I grew tired of calling and saying "This is the model. The blower died. It made this noise two days ago then stopped working. I can't pull any readings off of the cap, but the contacts are corroded. I would like an estimate on that effort" and then being told that they'd have to send a tech out to diagnose the problem for some random amount of money first. Franco was the only one actually trying to give me an idea of the cost and time frame up front (though, the unit is old enough he wasn't confident he had the right part numbers) EDIT: Super "B" Mechanical returned my call from the message that I left. Had I not already had someone coming out, they would also be considered as he actually listened to my message and didn't instantly say "let me diagnose it and ignore everything you said first"
Can you recommend a HVAC company in the Wilmington area?
Pat G. replied:
Val, I used Fire and Ice AC and he was good. I have a home warranty policy and he checked my ac. I think he was totally right in all he told me. He's a young guy I think on his own but if warranty company uses him he should be worth calling. You can find him on Google.
