Ah, the weekly barbershop/salon thread.

Do you pay $15 before or after the tip? Patsy's on Howard is great, and I think they do walk-ins during the week. Basic cuts are $20, but you get the towel. Many of the guys seem rough and tumble, but they're very welcoming and fun to BS with. And when it comes to hair, they're pros.

I like [Ed's](http://www.fongaboo.com/its-on-in-here-eds-barbershop) in Schenectady. Also like Patsy's in downtown Albany, but dunno what their hours are.

I go to Gregory's in Delmar and my son goes to Joe Ritmo's on New Scotland in Albany. We've been customers of these places for over a decade. Gregory's is more trendy while Ritmo's is more old school.
natephant replied:
Gregory's barbershop has a location in Delmar and one in Clifton park. Patsy's is pretty good. Dukes. Is pretty good.

Bethany M. replied:
For half marathons, the walkway half is in June in Poughkeepsie. Memorial Day races has a half, though it has moved further into MA. Syracuse half is in April (don't know if it's sold out). None of these are "local," technically, but they are close by!
Jennifer T. replied:
There is Steel Rail in MA in May. In November there is one in Newburyport MA, a little further out, don't know too much about it (yet), other than the folks who do the Smuttynose Rockfest are in charge.

My friends and I, who are about the same age just rented a cottage at Pine Acres camp ground in Raymond. They have quiet hours but I was honestly plastered the whole time and didn't get in trouble.

rent canoes/kayaks and float down the saco river. there is a company that will pick you up downstream the next day and bring you back to your car. You can camp anywhere along the river for free

I've gone up to Baker River Campground in Rumney the past few years, with groups between 10-15 people. We're rarely the rowdiest crew, and we get shitfaced each night. and there's a sweet swimming hole.

I've heard [Fiddlehead Campground](http://fiddleheadoutdoors.com) just over the border from North Conway in Fryeburg, ME, can get pretty rowdy on the weekends.

Not a traditional campground, but Tripoli Road is probably the perfect camping and drinking spot though I wouldn't recommend if you are underage. Lots of cops through there.

Oh, so you're the kind of person that makes camping miserable for others around you. Maybe you should let that tradition die, instead of ruining someone else's vacation.
