Can anyone recommend a good rheumatologist in the Clarksville area? One that specializes in psoriatic arthritis would be wonderful....
Colette B. replied:
Dr. Melissa Hawkins Holt with Maryland rheumatology. She diagnosed my psoriatic arthritis and took a long time examining me and talking to me at our first meeting.
Amy H. replied:
My daughter sees Dr. Melissa Hawkins Holt as well, for her Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.

April G. replied:
Dr. George, im not sure where his practice is now. but he is very thorough
Bette D. replied:
Well, with all the recommendations for Dr. Holt, she had no openings until October. I had an appointment today with Dr. Jacob at Annapolis Rheumatology and was VERY pleased. He has a new office in Clarksville, he spent a lot of time discussing my situation, and was very thorough in his questions. I would highly recommend him.... his website is www.arheum.com. Thank you Debby Bond Whelan!
Bette D. replied:
Collette Colette Hicks Burgess - the same doctor, mutual friend, same aggrevating arthritis....soon we will be sisters - LOL. thanks again!

Anyone have recommendations on a good Rheumatologist (arthritis) in the area? I have heard Mary Michels is great but hard to get into so wondering who else people use?
Kyle S. replied:
My mom sees Dr Michaels and has since we moved to MD in 1995.... She's great!
Cara M. replied:
Amy, that is very good to hear! That has been a concern of mine. My arthritis showed its ugly face, approximately four months after I gave birth to our first child, three years ago. I initially saw Dr. Hertzman in Glen Burnie. He invalidated all of my concerns, despite being in excruciating pain, swollen, and having an outbreak of psoriasis on my elbows and knees. He told me to stop exclusively nursing my daughter and that hormones were part of my problem... He said only then, he would pull blood any do a battery of tests. I never felt so frustrated after leaving a Dr.'s office, in all of my life. I saw Dr. Berger about 6 months later, who was wonderful!
Amy B. replied:
yeah My OB warned me that I could end up flaring up really bad afterwards. I had to beg Lichtenstein to even take xrays or something to prove to him I have it (i can't open my arms fully, havent since high school) and when he finally agreed to he was like oh not only do you have it its really bad..... ummm thanks. Just set an appt for Dr Berger!!! Thanks everyone!
Cara M. replied:
Ugh... Hoping Dr. Berger can help you! It is so frustrating to be so young and have stretches where you feel like you're in your 80 s, especially when you're chasing after a little one. I have days where I just want to scream and feel like not a lot of people understand, even though they try to. April and September seem to be my worst months. Hoping to be preggo by April!
Judy D. replied:
Had the same tearful expierence with Dr.Bhasker when she was with Dr. Lichtenstein. Now a friend has it also and I recommend him to try a doctor at John Hopkins . I never saw Dr Mehta, hear he is excellant
Bonnie L. replied:
I have psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis - Dr Mehta never has doubted me. He has been very supportive, understanding and just awesome. I like his approach conservative when necessary. He will not hesitate to refer if something really weird is going on. Cara Malfi boy o do I understand. There are days that are great and days that I flinch just getting out of bed.
Tina W. replied:
I went to Mary Michaels for years, she was wonderful. Tried dr. Lichtenstein first and it was a very bad experience.
Justin C. replied:
Dr Lichtenstein
Cara M. replied:
I see Dr. Susan Berger, with Annapolis Rheumatology. She is very patient and takes a lot of time to answer your questions. As a 33 yr. old woman who suffers from psoriatic arthritis, I was very distraught and confused about what was going on with my bo dy. She put my mind at ease, and gave me some really good natural recommendations to help alleviate my flare ups, since we are still in the process of expanding our family. Good luck!
