My wife needs a great orthopedist or sports injury specialist for her knee. Her PCP is no help at all. Any suggestions?

BEST EVER...when I had to have my left knee totally reconstructed, I went to an orthopedist I knew and trusted...Tarek Souryal in Dallas...he is team doc for the Mavericks and a world-renowned expert on knees. I can't say enough...rehab facility is great as well.

I'd avoid excel orthopedics; we had a bad experience there. Boston area hospitals are worth the hassle; I'd go to Mass General or Tufts. For a child, always Children's Hospital.

Dr. Mark Slovenkai at Boston Sports & Shoulder Center, offices in Chesnut Hill and Waltham. I had ankle issues a few years ago. No broken bones but I was very pleased with him and his PA-C Sheri Martartinelli.

Senia has trouble with her knees as well and has a condition called Osgood-Schlatters. It is common in kids who are experiencing rapid periods of grow and are usually active athletically. Knee pain is definitely something you would want to check out though. Dr. Jay Pond at Arlington Orthopedics Associates is a wonderful ortho! I know MANY people he has fixed.

I have seen Dr. Leo Troy at Pro Sports Orthopedics at Mt. Auburn for a couple of breaks and some various other pains. I like that he tries the least invasive method first before escalating treatment. I believe he specializes in feet, but don't quote me on that.

My husband broke a toe earlier this year. Took him to Urgent Care near Burlington mall. They x-rayed it and taped it and that was it. Same thing for another guy who was in the waiting room. They were very fast and Professional! Highly recommended!
