Anna Karenina: relationships and awesomeness. My favorite book. The Center Cannot Hold, memoir, Saks. I also love Margaret Atwood. At night I listen to a lot of Pema Chodron. (NOT the George RR Martin books as those will KEEP you awake. Warning.)

Where'd You Go Bernadette?, Beautiful Ruins, Night Film, The Interestings are all recent and good novels I liked. Skippy Dies/Evening of Long Goodbyes are on my perennial list of recommendations. Night Circus & the Lev Grossman books are also fun and nerdy in the best way. READ ALL THE BOOKS.
