Details on Frank and Ollie, and a link where you can purchase this 90 minute video: "Before computer graphics, special effects wizardry, and out-of-this world technology, the magic of animation flowed from the pencils of two of the greatest animators The Walt Disney Company ever produced -- Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston. Frank and Ollie, the talent behind BAMBI, PINOCCHIO, LADY AND THE TRAMP, THE JUNGLE BOOK, and others, set the standard for such modern-day hits as THE LION KING. It was their creative genius that helped make Disney synonymous with brilliant animation, magnificent music, and emotional storytelling. Start up your rails project with Thoughtbot's Suspenders gem https://github.com/thoughtbot/suspenders You can check out the gems they use, but it's some great defaults and they include great commands as well as a whole ReadMe with everything you need to deploy. They include HighVoltage (https://github.com/thoughtbot/high_voltage) which is a convenient way to use static pages with Rails. If you want a challenge for learning to deploy your own vps just grab a DigitalOcean instance and set up manual github hooks.

Ricky LaRocca is the man. Not only is he an amazing trainer, but he is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. He's just a great, great guy who came from a rough background growing up in SF and turned his life around by lifting and becoming a trainer. He's one of the best people I've ever met in SF. He trains everyone from Ms. America contestants and strippers to pro athletes to strongmen/powerlifters. There's also regular schmucks like me in there and other normal folk such as those recovering from injuries and training for marathons or just people who want to get healthy etc. All his clients are really nice, too! It's a welcoming, low-key vibe with a nice mix of people from all walks of life. He offers group training which is really fun (kinda crossfit-esque but cheaper and less bro-ish/culty/gimicky). His private training rates are affordable, too. I think you might have to go to a at least a few privates to work your way up before you're ready for the group workouts. He might look "scary" but seriously he's the biggest teddy bear/nicest person you could ever possibly meet. And he knows his stuff- is a professional strongman/powerlifter himself. - Here's [photo of him deadlifting a car](http://aug-cdn.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/superphoto/editorial/images/feed/msms/photos/4676750.jpg). O_o - Here he is coming back from a pretty horrible injury when he couldn't walk- he was still [doing log press despite being stuck a wheelchair through several leg surgeries](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypyUOxNUZyI). - [Here he is carrying 1100lbs](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDoPH-zvGf0) and doing other silly things. - Here's his official bio [scroll down to Richard](http://body-mechanix.com/Team-San_Francisco). By the way- he doesn't have an email account and isn't really "online" at all, which is ... funny:P But give him a call if you are interested or even just stop by his gym. As a human tank, he's easy enough to spot if you just walk in. He trains out of is Body Mechanix on 7th and Folsom. It's an uncrowded, mellow place- big open garage door, airy feel, bunch of no-frills equipment like a cage and a bench and some olympic plates and a mat. But he will work you hard! Last week he had us running a weighted sled down Moss Alley. Anyway- he's awesome, can't recommend him enough. Cheers! Oh and congrats on your weight loss progress btw, that is great work! edit: formatting

I love love love my trainer. Linda trains me at Synergy on Polk & Sutter which is a trainers' gym and therefore no membership fees. She has a military background, has bodybuilding and powerlifting experience and is currently training me on olympic lifting in which I had my first competition in September. She also trains my boyfriend who has a shoulder injury from years of tennis so she has him doing some lifting and cardio circuits.
She's definitely the no-nonsense-shut-up-and-workout kind of trainer (I've noticed other trainers @ Synergy who do nothing but talk and talk with their clients) but is very encouraging and now it's to the point where I don't want to disappoint her (but it might be because I'm Asian). Her rates are really affordable and even more affordable if you want to train with a friend. PM me if you want her email/phone #.
ForgedIronMadeIt replied:
Well, it depends on your goals. Are you looking for powerlifting or more just cardio/crossfit style stuff? My gym is a local chain with a lot of trainers, so my personal experiences are all with people affiliated with that. But my friends highly recommend Ivy (though I do not have any other contact information). She does a lot of crossfit style stuff from what I understand. My own personal goals are more aligned with powerlifting, and I found someone at my local gym who fits that role.

Neil@Saka is amazing! Every day is different with a focus on overall body and wellness. Today we climbed up an intimidatingly tall wall, did upper body exercises on a bench, leaps, sprints, and went on a jog. Oh - and we practiced take downs! I feel stronger and more coordinated and I love being outside. The group training in Dogpatch / Potrero is a small mix of women and men, but he also does house calls. I convinced my boyfriend to join me - his arms and abs are already getting super defined! Muscles! http://www.sakafitness.com/
