might be worth checking him out with a doggy chiropractor. Google Dr Ian Buffet (vet who does dog chiro) or Dr Mark Garbutt (human chiro who also works on dogs)

Essential Fatty Acids (Omega-3 and Omega-6 oils): Many humans with epilepsy have been helped by eating a ketogenic diet (high in fat, low in carbohydrates). High fat seems to decrease the excitability of the neurons in the brain, and the addition of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids (both of which are found in wild-caught-salmon oil) can decrease seizure frequency and intensity in dogs.http://thebark.com/content/holistic-treatments-epilepsy-dogs

A longer drive, but we used to go to Mill Valley Cat Clinic. They take walkins rather than appts. They care about you and your cats. When you cat is sick, they give you your options straight up and don't try to get you to agree to extra tests beyond what is absolutely necessary
