Dr Colon at cardio vascular associates is who I use and I really like him, 205-510-5000 is the number. Jeff uses Dr Honan and he is good also and he comes to Pell City.

Any recommendations for a good cardiologist that 'gets' endurance folks?
Greg B. replied:
Dr. Chris King at Alabama Cardiovascular. Chris is a distance runner, great doctor, and great guy. http://www.alcardio.com
Chulwon P. replied:
Dr. Robert Foster with the Birmingham Heart Clinic is great. He's a trail runner and has done the Crusher Ridge in the past I think. I saw him last year and he definitely "gets" endurance folks.:) Here is the info: http://www.birminghamheart.com/staff.php?ID=6
David T. replied:
Vanessa, Bucky Woods, a long time runner and retired surgeon in B'ham, referred me to Dr Settle. Dr Harold Settle sent me to Dr George Kay who did my 1 st atrial ablation. I really liked him but he retired. His associate who I now see is Dr. Takumi Yamada. His office is in the Kirklin Clinic at UAB. (He did my second ablation and the problem is no fixed) He is a little difficult to understand.
Jeffrey J. replied:
I knew several marathoner/triathlete cardiologists in my last city, but none here. Jerry Chandler does ultra distance cycling and is great, but he may be tough to get an appointment with. With CVA.

Do any of my friends have connections with doctors in Johns Hopkins Hospital? I'm in need of a really good cardiologist and neurologist, and my family / ER doctors here...
Justin T. replied:
James Patrick Daily - I went to a cardiologist yesterday and he was able to tell that something is off with my heart. He thinks it's micro valve prolapse, but won't know until I get more testing done in early December. I think he's right though because I have every single symptom that they list on this page - http://www.mvprolapse.com/symptoms_testing.php. Let me know if you think this encompasses your symptoms too.
Andrew K. replied:
Emilie works at Johns Hopkins at the PICU so I expect she knows a doctor or two.
Art L. replied:
@Emilie: I had a friend named Marybeth Bounds who worked in PICU at JHU. I wonder if you knew her. Her husband is a cardiologist and has been able to relay some advice to Justin through this ordeal.
Looking for a new cardiologist - any recommendations?? Also internist around Hoover area
Dee P. replied:
Vera Bitner is the best in my opinion for a cardiologist. (She was my mothers, and I had many opportunities to visit with her over the years with momma. Love, Love, Love her!!!) My best friend and her parents (...her mom is a retired doctor and both are extremely picky when it comes to medical care), recently referred me to Marina Brainin for a local internist. They are both part of UAB, but while Dr. Bitner is located in the Kirklin Clinic, Dr. Brainin is in Hoover off of Hwy 150 near the Hoover YMCA. I had my initial visit with dr Brainin in December, and she's was very nice and appears to be quite thorough.
Can anyone suggest an amazing primary care physician, rheumatologist, and cardiologist? I have to start all over. No one knows what is wrong and they are discharging me...
Lauren B. replied:
Dr. Diane Barnard at Brookwood is a positively amazing cardiologist!!
Lacy S. replied:
Dr. Hasabnis with CVA is a FANTASTIC cardiologist. He is who I use,
