Can anyone recommend a good orthopedic doctor? I was in a hit and run and need one soon. Doesn't matter where they are as long it's between Lineville and Birmingham....
Peggy J. replied:
Shawn Stubbs in Moody.. She's great!
Debbie M. replied:
Dr. Buckhalter at Lemack in Trussville by the YMCA is a general orthopedic.
Holly S. replied:
Dr Gullung done a complete rotator cuff repair on my mother & also my cousin's neck surgery. His specialty is the spine but he does it all. His # is 205-838-3900
Rebecca B. replied:

Dr Gregory Gullung is amazing & he comes to Northside in pell city. His office is at St Vincent east.
Angel B. replied:
Dr. Irma Palmer at Chiropractic Today! She is in Inverness! She is awesome! May be able to help you! Hope you are feeling much better and glad your still alive:)
Delene C. replied:
For back/neck Andrew. Cordover for legs/knees/ arms Samuel Goldstein they are both in with Andrews Sports Medicine, stars and athletes fly in from all over just to use doctors in this group.
Jennifer S. replied:
Dr. Ponce at South Highlands in Birmingham. He just rebuilt my mother's right shoulder m
Rob S. replied:
Dr. Cordover took good care of my broken neck. Also explained quite well that there was little to be done for my degenerated disks other than somewhat-risky surgery. Sometimes a doctor telling it like it is, can be good medicine all by itself even when NOT what you want to hear.
Best orthopedic veterinarians in Birmingham? Any recommendations?
Kim S. replied:
I don't know the man's name but we saw one at the Emergency Vet Clinic behind The Colonade (probably spelled that wrong) when my Cookie girl was little and we thought her leg was broken. Every person in the waiting room re-assured us how wonderful the place was and how she would be well taken care of. I can call and find out the name if you want me to.
Alison S. replied:
Heather Glass in my dealings with personal and rescue - Dr. Milton at Acton Rd; Dr. Ballagas at Acton Rd, and Dr. Torsch at Main St. Trussville (really amazing) and also Dr. Scott Russell at Deerfoot Animal Clinic.
Joanna J. replied:
Dr. Milton and Dr. Ballagas are partners at the same place. Both are exceptional orthopedic doctors. I personally prefer Dr. Ballagas.
Heather G. replied:
We can definitely do a PayPal. I just know when I'm donating, I always feel better donating directly to the vet or a rescue. I am not a rescue and this is being done independently and our responsibility. I know, and the people who know me know, that al l of his donations will go directly to his surgeries, but not every one knows me like that. However... my main and number one goal is making sure he gets the best possible care. The donations are most definitely a HUGE help, but I do want to make sure he goes to the best! His well being is my priority!:) I do have an appointment this afternoon with Dr. Russell, one of the vets that Alison Potts Shirley recommended!! Thank you Alison!!
Ingrid L. replied:
Dr. Milton. That's who Dr. Fuller goes to when it's too difficult for him.
Alison S. replied:
Keep me posted on how tomorrow goes Heather Glass .
Jennie F. replied:
If that doesn't work out, you should call dr. Grimmet Grayson Valley Pet Clinic .. They fix wild animal wings and legs that will be released .. as well as regular pets. He's an awesome vet & person.
Could someone please give me the name of a good children's orthopedic?
Roxanna J. replied:
Dr Mayberry children's orthopedics at st Vincent's. Po building one I think.
Dinah L. replied:
Dr Mark Elkus in Birmingham is my Ortho and I love him. I wouldn't trust my children to anyone in Tuscaloosa!
Praying S. replied:
Basically what the situation is, after they re x-rayed his foot today they ended finding a small fracture. One Dr. Said something about putting him in a shoe or a boot, but the orthopedic said, "Ahhhh, just take him home & make him stay off of it, it'll heal in it's own time!" Mind you he never actually looked at Nate's foot, never even saw Nate, just X-ray. Excuse me, but obviously that Dr. Does not have any children or he would know that you can't keep a 5 yr old still. My only other option is to bring him back on Friday (the only day they actually see patients) for the orthopedic to actually look at Nate's foot. I'm tired of my child hobbling around & I really don't want to wait till Friday & I really don't want to fight Nate in trying to make him stay off of that foot.
Candis T. replied:
I wasn't a fan of the ortho clinic at children's. Katie used Dr Ikard and Dr Scott at UOC in Tuscaloosa
Brandie O. replied:
we loved Dr. Michael Conklin@Childrens205-939-9146. He was grest with Mary Morgan, staff great too!!
Jennifer W. replied:
Dr. Scott is good at UOC, that's who Bradley sees here, but he also sees Dr. Khoury at Children's. Don't see Dr. Boston at UOC just from experience with Bradley bc Dr. Scott did not have a opening right then.
Jennifer S. replied:
We use Dr. Khoury at Children's and he is the best!! Jonah loved him from the beginning but he did an awesome job with Jonah's shoulder!!
Gayle H. replied:
I don't know you, but have heard great things about your family amd Nate. I worked at uoc in Tusca. And the docs there are the Best ever. Especially Tosh Atkins and Steve Ikard. Both great w kids. Dr Scott is also great. All nine of those docs love kids, too!
Jessica L. replied:
We use Dr. Standifer in Northport. He has seen my boys several times and we have always been very happy with him. If you want to try him let me know and I will call them for you.
Robyn A. replied:
What type of need? Maybe I can ask Dr. Jones who he'd recommend. The good ones are in Birmingham though
Angelique P. replied:
Dr Paul Sponseller at Johns Hopkins. We live in Ohio but travel to see him.
Can anyone recommend a good orthopedic Dr? I have made an appointment with Andrews sports medicine. I am having trouble with my ankle and my shoulder. They said you...
Samm B. replied:
Dr. Sophia Lal is outstanding!
Marc K. replied:
Lyle Cain operated on my ankle about 10 years ago following a motorcycle accident. Great results. Bear in mind that your physical therapist plays a vital role in your treatment whether you need surgery or not.
Kelly H. replied:
Sophia Lal is wonderful!
Chelsey P. replied:
Beau Beard at the Farm is great (www.chirofarm.com). He and his wife Sloan Beard are both chiropractors, and focus on getting to the root cause of an injury or pain. They do so by doing a whole-body assessment and take their time to get to know YOU (the way you move, what aches, any weaknesses that could be causing the injury, etc). Cannot recommend them highly enough. They are also a nonop sports medicine team.
David C. replied:
Benton Emblom at Andrews has done both of my knees. Completely unrelated to running injuries. I would highly recommend him and Andrews Sports Medicine. No problems at all after surgeries.
S A. replied:
Another recommendation for Cherie Miner at Andrews. She's a triathlete and really gets stuff. The "one body part" thing is for the X-ray clinic, but the MD's take a holistic approach.
Kay E. replied:
Dr Lal is the best. She is a triathlete as well so she understands our pain of being injured. I've seen her for IT band, foot and elbow.
Does anyone know if there is a good orthopedic doctor in the Trussville area. I really don't want to make multiple trips to Children's. Thanks in advance!
Sabrina G. replied:
I used Dr. Mayberry at St. Vincent's. Her specialty is pediatrics and she is great. The wait time is short and she has a great bedside manner on top of being a great doc. Highly recommend www.orthopedicsforkids.com/about_us.html
Heather P. replied:
Dr Burkhalter.
Debbie H. replied:
I second AL Orthopedic... Dr Savage Jr is great with kids! He fixed up a couple broken arms on David.
Greg A. replied:
Dr Burkhalter at Trinity by the YMCA.
Jaime A. replied:
Dr Burkhalter is awesome!!
Marie R. replied:
Dr. Burkhalter!!
Jenni B. replied:
Dr. Mayberry at St. Vincent's downtown is wonderful and worth the drive. I had to make it with my son MANY times.
Orthopedic surgeon recommendations? I need to get a knee injury checked out, but have never seen an Orthopedist in Birmingham. Any recommendations or words of caution...
ramshag replied:
Dr. Lyle Cain with Andrews Sports is one of the top knee docs in the country. Did mine and does knees, shoulders, etc for some of the top athletes in the country. Plus does a lot of stuff for non-athletes. Highly recommend. Google him.
IAmClaytonBigsby replied:
Andrews Sports Medicine is one of the best in the country. Major athletes fly in all the time just to see those people.
JusDaFax601 replied:
Dr. Lemak.....just had my Achilles repaired on June 1 and I am doing toe raises, riding the stationary bike and walking normal after 2 months! This is all before I've even been to physical therapy! Proof enough for ya? This is at the B.O.S.S. clinic
Todgeist replied:
Dr. Matthew Davis. My ex wife had an emergency knee operation and he did an amazing job. I've never seen anyone recover from that kind of damage that fast.
bhambelly replied:
Buggay at St. Vincents is great. Carr, down the street from Brookwood is a no go.

Love Micheal Ellerbusch and Bob Wolf. I think of Bob for surgical stuff and Micheal for everything else (not sure if that's accurate). Plus Micheal's office is super convenient. Hope it's feeling better soon.
Fletcher C. replied:

Kayla M. replied:
Scott Doyle at Children's or Greg Carr at Brookwood

Dr Davis at 119 wellness center. He is easy to get an appointment with and don't wait to long to see him.
Kayla M. replied:
Not Lillian. Killian. Darn auto correct. Lol
Karen R. replied:
Dr Killian is amazing!! He did Amelia bone graft surgery!
Gina W. replied:
Leemack did Tays 1 st rotator cuff surgery, botched. Dr. Cain at St Vincent's did her last. He was highly recommended since he does all the surgeries on the football players at Alabama. Whoever is having surgery, if you want them back to an athletic level of mobility... I highly suggest Cain
