Anyone have a reco on a local optometrist? I tried to go to the vision center at EBNHC but they said six months for an appt! Yikes!
John A. replied:
Cynthia D'Auria at New England Medical Center is great. Not sure how far out she's booked: http://www.neec.com/Pages/Physicians/DAuria_Cynthia.php
Mary B. replied:
Dr. Vicki Kvedar is our ophthalmologist. Her offices are located in Melrose and North Reading. I would choose an ophthalmologist over an optician any day. http://doctor.webmd.com/.../vicki-kvedar-md-74 e4 e7 f4-ef11...
Ariel G. replied:
Winthrop Eye Center - very convenient and nice. Then I go to Warby Parker on Newbury Street where they sell nice glasses for $90 including frame and prescription.
Ariel G. replied:
Warby Parker also does the buy one give one business model. If it's too out of the way to go to the store, you can get five styles delivered to you for free to try on.

Optometrists Recommendations Do any r/boston redditors have a favorite optometrist in Boston proper? Vision insurance isn't a factor me.
Thank you!
EDIT: I wound up...
inecather replied:
When I was in school I went to the Lenscrafters@Copley and had a decent optometrist. Although this isn't Boston Proper, I most recently went to [Parelli Optical](http://www.parrellioptical.com) and saw Dr. Cheryl DePaulo. She was the best optometrist I've had. She was nice, not smelly, didn't breath on me, answered any question I had, and actually listened to my issues. I had a few other Dr's who just dismissed the fact that I told them I couldn't see very far because I passed the test they gave me. Cheryl really helped me!

Both a coworker and myself had our eyes tested at Central Square Eye-care after reading reviews on yelp. I question how accurate the results were though; after having glasses for seven years (glasses which visibly improve my sight) he insisted I had near 20-20. If you are in the market for new glasses, check out www.zennioptical.com. I found them over in /r/frugal and there are quite a few very cheap and stylish pairs.
wpiman replied:
The New England College of Optometry has several clinics, one near BU and one in Rosinlindale I believe. You get seen by a 4 th year student and an instructor. The instructor are top notch, so you are in good hands. They really are very thorough; so don't expect to be in an out. I believe the prices there cannot be beat if you don't carry insurance.
Looking for Optometrists recommendations in Downtown area. The optical place that I have been going to for many years has closed. I was wondering if anyone could...
tvonwheelz replied:
Dr. Shomali, located between Government Center and Downtown Crossing. I have pretty severe astigmatism - he's great for what you're looking for. [https://www.drshomali.com/](https://www.drshomali.com/)

Both optometrists at Eyes Over Copley (in the Back Bay Westin) are excellent; I've been going there for years. They are open Tuesday-Friday.
lintymcfresh replied:
Drs. Salomon or Chesnick at State Street Eye (now “MyEyeRr” or something). I used to work for an eye surgeon and they were consistently thorough and professional on the exams they gave their patients (i.e. they noticed disease that led their patients to the practice where I worked).
lovessa replied:
Vision North across from Haymarket. Excellent!
meowbite replied:
See on Newbury and Exeter!
whyamisoitchy replied:
Dr Garlich at envision is the best
KungPowGasol replied:
I think most of the optometrists closed down due to COVID. They found that they could make more money on unemployment so they have not gone back to work.
Anyone know a good optometrist in Allston or Cambridge?
I got a pair of reading glasses and discovered what it feels like to relax my eyes. Now, I'm getting dizzy....
Katie D. replied:
Brighton Eye Associates 372 Washington St, Brighton, MA 02135 Kirsten, I think is her name. Super nice. Wicked smart. And not exactly hard on the eyes.
Baines K. replied:
Parelli optical in porter square galleria. Dr. Jost was super awesome and thorough and we talked about life and kids and stuff. Highly recommended. My glasses came out perf.
Carl W. replied:
I have no idea if they have an optometrist in house, but Warby Parker now has a store on Newbury. I got my glasses from their website for a hundred bucks.
Does anyone in Boston have an optometrist and/or dentist that they don't hate?
David S. replied:
Well, my dad's an optometrist...check out Burlington Eye Associates.
Daniel R. replied:
Dentist Dave
Caroline B. replied:
Dr. Swerdlick in Coolidge Corner - the best dentist ever.
Rebekah S. replied:
So I cry at all dentists, but I love my dentist in boston. Dr. Richard Oliver. Super nice and great hours. He's located downtown between south station and downtown crossing. I wish I had a dentist like him when I was younger and maybe I wouldn't hate the dentist so much! You should really call him!
Michelle D. replied:
The Faculty Group Practice at the Harvard Dental Center in Longwood is amazing -- and I am petrified of dentists. They're all great!
Pilar O. replied:
Dr Meola in Copley for a dentist, Dr White in Central for an optometrist. Cool dudes especially White from my time here.
Pilar O. replied:
Dr Meola was awesome from when I shattered my teeth. Root canals were easy peasy.
Katherine K. replied:
Warby Parker on Newbury street actually has an optometrist you can meet with in their office, and she's nice
