Stingray in Allston. Myself and several friends have gotten tattoos there. Good price, really nice and helpful people.

Fat Ram's Pumpkin Tattoo in Jamaica Plain. They do custom work and usually require appointment for consultation, although I believe there is a walk in day.

I think you might like Oleg, at Off the Map, Easthampton: https://www.instagram.com/turyanskiy I haven’t come across many hyper-realism tattoo artists in Mass yet. Timmy B at Nite Owl, Northampton does like a new school realism style which I love https://www.instagram.com/timmy_b_413. The Murray twins at Black Veil do interesting stuff (but not hyper real) https://www.instagram.com/blackveiltattooJesse Rix in Keene NH does realism-trippy-insane work: https://www.instagram.com/jesse_rix If I think any others, I’ll send you the link here.

I just had something done at Fat Ram's Pumpkin Tattoo in JP. I did a lot of research of different shops and different artists - and this parlor had the best reviews in terms of quality, linework, and cleanliness. All their artists were super experienced. [Chad](http://chadcheskotattoo.com/) does a lot of traditional-Japanese work. He doesn't really check his e-mail, but if you swing by the shop - you can catch him. Dave did mine, I had a great experience. Very friendly, accommodating, and the design looks better than I anticipated. My only issue with the shop is the fellah at the counter when I setup my appointment wasn't unhelpful. And also, the place is expensive - $80 minimum. But you get what you pay for.

I know someone who was pretty pleased with the work she got at Pino Bros on Cambridge St near Inman Square. edit: I feel like "pretty pleased" might be underselling it a bit; so take that as in, she's very happy with it. I don't have any tattoos, myself, so I can't speak to anywhere otherwise.
