Whatever you do, PLEASE stay away from All Paws Pet Emergency Hospital on Hwy70 near Huffman Mill Road in Burlington. I experienced criminal price gouging and malpractice there, confirmed by my regular veterinarians the next day. I paid $3000 for that vet to kill my cat, who had only a skin-deep laceration with straight edges (he had laid down on a piece of broken glass). Online research indicated that this is commonplace. I found outrageous cases. One client was charged hundreds of dollars for that clinic to administer a Benadryl tablet and then send her away. . My vets say it's totally worth the little bit of extra driving to get to the emergency clinic on Moreene Road in Durham or the one in Greensboro, both of which have excellent reputations, I understand.

Eastern Randolph Veterinary is GREAT. Very reasonable prices. My Grandaddy has had tumors removed on a dog of his for very low cost. Even an abscess that needed lanced multiple times was a low price. Not sure on hours or anything but I do recommend them.
Andrea P. replied:
This AM he is putting a bit of weight on it. Still nowhere close to being back normal. Dr. Tysor did call me last night and told me to give him some asprin for inflammation and the tramadol and if he isnt improving to what I think he should be on Monday to bring him in. If he gets worse, to call her back. In addition she said that if xrays are needed, its 55 to start with 2 views. (Beats 180 to start for 1 view) and of course her office fee is 25! I plan to call Eastern Randolph today and if needed Plaza as well. Thank you all.

Looking for a vet and I think I'm down to Creekside in Mebane or Town & Country in Burlington. Thoughts on either?
Robin S. replied:
never been to Town & Country. Have taken a pet to Creekside before and the doctor was really nice. I asked the lady up front to get a list of prices for all my dogs shots together, called back like she asked and she had forgotten. Said she would get right on it and to call back, I did and she had forgotten again. I didn't go back. But the doctor is great, may be a different lady there now!! I just went to a vet within 2 miles of my home and love them. Mebane Vet, Dr. Brady on Jones Road.
Christy F. replied:
Oh wow! Jessica, I am sorry to hear that. Dr. Swanned was amazing when he first opened his practice. Maybe with the new Drs in they aren't as caring.
Billie M. replied:
I've heard to go to Dr. Swanner there but not the other doctors.
Billie M. replied:
A lot of people seem against creekside:-/ but my dog trainer specifically recommended Dr. Swanner. And I posted this question on the Mebane page and most people recommended Creekside. So hard to decide. I just want the best for my doggie.
Stacy P. replied:
Neither go to Alamnce vet hospital on church street and see Dr Ami Burbridge or Dr small. They are the best. Plus the hospital aaha. Meaning held to higher standard. And the tech are amazing.
Kim M. replied:
Dr Swanner at Creekside is awesome!!!
Melissa S. replied:
I go to both Creekside and Meb Veterinary..Creekside was double the price on puppy shots...so went to Dr Brady at Mebane Veterinary Hospital...moving other dog next
Terri P. replied:
I love Plaza Veterinary Hospital
Tammy W. replied:
In a way, asking which vets are best is kind of like asking who has the best pizza. Some people will love it some people will hate it. Same with vets. Someone can have a terrible experience and someone else has a very positive experience. You need to decide what you want in a vet and schedule an appointment to talk them. For example, I personally don't like when a vet or vet tech takes my animal out of my sight for treatment. If it isn't surgery, I want the procedure done in my presence. Sorry, but my dogs can't speak and I am their voice. I want to ensure they are being treated kindly and not being manhandled and I want to see what was done so that I am not billed for procedures that did not take place. People are supposed to be professional and honest, but I am not taking chances with my pets. So that is important to me. That would eliminate some vets no matter how great they may be, if that is the way they practice, then it is just not for me. Personally, I fully support Plaza Vet off Alamance Rd, but I know we are fortunate to have many excellent vets into our county.
Christy F. replied:

Renee B. replied:
Amber Shea, I understand your desire to help this poor dog, really I do and I'd love to as well, but we are NOT vets!!!! This dog needs to go to a vet ASAP! If she won't take it, then she needs to surrender it to someone who can prevent needless suffering! I'm sorry, but enabling this neglectful and abusive behavior is NOT helping the dog!

Stephanie I. replied:
Andrea Penley and Krishna Fawn are talking to her, last I heard the puppy was still stuck and it's been 3 hours
Tammy W. replied:
Dear God. Isn't Plaza vet now open on weekends??? I know in a crisis situation you don't want to hear this but that's why "crazy ass women" like Renee Renee Bartis is always preaching to spay and neuter your pet. Problems happen during birth and if you can't get to a vet the animals suffer. Prayers for this dog and her pups.
Melissa W. replied:
Peggy Foust she does care for her so much thats why i gave her too them she loves her with all shes got
Louise A. replied:
Renee I just read all the posts. it was unkind of you to say what you did. from the past following while I am struggling . with t h e side affects of the flu, A vet tech for ten years knows what she is doing. I would not be surprised if the baby was deceased and that is one reason maybe it was stuck. when I was a kid people let nature do it's own thing with dogs and cats who were giving birth. not everyone has 2 000 to walk in a front door of a vet, maybe something vets need to work on. don't be too quick to judge, as the saying goes sh-----happens and as with women They ii now their bodies it is maternal have a wonderful day
Kelley C. replied:
Renee Bartis is someone can't pay the vet and the vet refuses services it's not the person's fault! Any living creature can have this birth complication. If you feel it's imperative that you not "breed" please do so. You have no place on thus post unless to help the situation.

Lisa D. replied:
Agree with Andrea Penley for both. I also like Plaza Vet in Burlington.
Andrea P. replied:
Emma Crawford, my dog had apparently sprained his leg, but more towards his shoulder/chest. I called Dr. Tysor at her afterhours number and she called me back and told me what to do. She asked his weight and told me to give him baby aspirin or safety coated aspirin along with the tramadol I had left over from his neuter, and lots of rest and limited activity. He is still limping, but he is getting better.
