Re: the vitamin D/heavy metal excretion issue: I've never been able to find any studies addressing vitamin D deficiency in breastfeeding mothers, and subsequent deficiency in babies. I think our "knowledge" on this is mostly conjecture at this point, but my understanding is that breastfeeding moms will produce milk with vitamin D, even if they are D-deficient, but that the body pulls it from its own bones. I'm not sure if this is true, but either way, vitamin D should be addressed in both mom and baby ASAP. Over-the-counter supplements fine, but you want to take D3 (cholecalciferol) rather than D2 (ergocalciferol, which we don't absorb well). There is also an optimum balance between D and Vitamin K, magnesium, and zinc which should be considered; some supplements add them. There is a lot of interesting information at http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/health-conditions/autism/

I have heard good things about Dr. Kalb, in Franklin, TN. He is a doctor that used to be known as DAN (cannot remember what they are called now). I haven't been to him personally but have talked to several people who really love him. http://www.csfmed.net/
Ann G. replied:
There is a Dr. Bernui in Hendersonville, but I understand it can take months to get in, though he may make exceptions for emergencies. We have seen Dr. Kalb and really like him, too. I'll find a link for Bernui, though.
Ann G. replied:
Just thinking...Dr. Kalb may be a good choice as he usually has "sick" appointments available very quickly.

Hi, are you working? Last time I went through therapy a found the doctor through my office's Employee Assistance Program. I called the EAP people and they made an appointment with someone for me. It was very convenient. Also, if you have health insurance, you may be able to contact them and have them hook you up.
lemonyleia replied:
I had a pretty good experience with Harvard Vanguard and rhe easiest way to get in is to go in for a general checkup and mention it to that doctor and you will have a much easier time getting a mental health specialist. Only drawback is my insurance changed and now I have to find someone new because Cigna sucks.

My boyfriend had a hell of a time finding a doctor through his insurance. I asked my old therapist for help and she told us about this place: [BIP (The Boston Institute for Psychotherapy)](http://bostoninstitute.org/) It still took a while-he had to wait, then do a phone screening, then get set up with someone. But he likes it now that he's in. Also if you are agreeable to paying out of pocket then getting reimbursed by your insurance, PM me. My old therapist doesn't work with insurance companies anymore (and she is pricey) but she's great. I'm not 100% sure she has openings but I can give you her # to try.
Floomi replied:
Not sure if they're taking new patients - I can ask in a couple of days - but I signed on at [Life Changes Group](http://www.lifechangesgroup.com/site/) a few months ago and think my therapist is awesome. Sample size of 1, mind you, but still.

does anyone know of any doctors in Cambridge ont that deal with mesh victims?
Stacy S. replied:
Kelli Fleming. Dr Veronikis in St Louis. I traveled.
Shelley Z. replied:
Dr Veronikis at Mercy hospital St Louis. He is an amazing doctor. My canadian specialist is Dr Carr from Sunnybrook hospital in Toronto. .Am not sure if she is accepting patients at the moment. Please stay away from Dr Usher at Victoria Hospital she is unexperienced and is who put my mesh in and ruined my life.
Cherie C. replied:
Dr Veronikis is a uro-gynecologist. He is very gifted in all areas of mesh removal and repair.:)
Danyelle R. replied:
Cherie Crozier...as long as it is vaginal or bladder mesh. He doesn't repair hernia or trauma related mesh in the abdominal region. I know this because that's where mine is and he ONLY works in uro/gyno area...

Thanks everybody. I'll put in a call to ask about Dr. Langfitt. I feel like Bay Peds is fine but I'm concerned about handing off scripts for Zantac to a 4 year old and saying "It's not asthma, it's GERD" after a single visit with a dr who has never even treated him for an ear infection before.:(
Bonnie K. replied:
Do you think Dr. Cook is worth having a chat with separate from the other doctors?
Jess L. replied:
Dr Langfitt. Very thorough and takes his time. Love him!
Laura A. replied:
We love love love Dr Langfitt! I've also seen Ms Gall in his office and was very pleased with her too. Both very patient, I don't feel rushed, and they aren't quick to give out medicine.
Amber C. replied:
Dr. Corden. He's been amazing. I left Bay peds to go to him and love him to pieces.

We have gone to Dr Lanfitt for 16 years and we love him. My son was born with a heart condition and kept going into cardiac arrest few times a week ...Dr Langfitt would call me few times in the middle of the night to check on my son cause he know I'll be up giving him his medications. When a Dr calls middle of the night to check up on my son...I just couldn't ask for any better Dr. He will take the time over phone or in person to discuss anything about your concern

If you go to a walk-in clinic, such as the one at Mt. Auburn, they will give her whatever treatments she needs and help her apply for Commonwealth Care. She will pay a monthly fee based on her income and will then have insurance -- yippee! She can then select a PCP.
